this whole scandal is quite stupid. kate's job is MODEL, not ROLE MODEL. she shouldn't have to apologize to anyone unless she hurt them directly. the press is captious, sanctimonious, and hypocritical
Completely agree :flower:

She's a role-model for a lot of peeps. She should not LIE!
But it isn't her job to be a rolemodel. She can't be held accountable for young girls (or whoever) mimicking her. It's the media that encourages individuals to worship celebrities - we should be critisizing that fact rather than Kate :ninja:

i apologize also.
krazy kate.
what would we do without fashionrock.
tomm sunday, sometimes even later,

OMG That's funny. How many actors/actresses do you think hate the movie they were just making, hates their coactors - but has to go on promotion tour anyway talking about how it was "wonderful to work with such talented people"....blahablah...

I would lie as a celeb as well, btw, for protection. And about drugs - I think it's just common knowledge that most stars do it to some extent and the thing that mustn't happen is that you're caught - or that a tabloid happens to have a reason to "out you". There's for instance one very critically acclaimed actor who seems to have a penchant for young boys - a penchant that he doesn't try to hide and a set up by a tabloid should be very simple. But nobody is interested in knowing the filthy sex life of a 40+ academy award winning actor. It doesn't suit their little world. However, a woman with attitude who is rail thin at 30 and has been the posterchild of heroin chic for 15 years is more likely to be appealing as someone to criticize.

The whole role model issue is bizarre. Celebs are not suited to be role models. we shouldn't talk about them as such. Most of the kids - I think - are able to think critically and for themselves - they use Kate as a style icon. How about the Rolling Stones? Did their fans all turn out to be drug addicts? How many people that you know that own Stones records are drug addicts?

Really, I think if one would analyze the issue one would see that its mostly young celeb women who are talked about as role models for young girls. Seldom are men thought of as role models. I think it's just that the parents are so afraid that their girls are going to turn out to be loose women, not wholesome. Perhaps it's also an underlying thought that girls/women are more impressionable (read dumb) than boys/men.

You bring up a GREAT POINT.
No one is tearing down people like Colin Farrell or Tommy Lee for sleeping around, drinking, smoking, being voilent, and who knows what else. no one is freaking out about them not being a GOOD ROLE MODEL.

It's a horrible double standard.

Yes, but when someone chooses a life in the public eye, they automatically become a "role model" of sorts. More importantly, when you have a child you are a role model for that child. Forget her loser boyfriend, forget the press, forget the lost contracts - this should be about her daughter. When you bring a child into this world you have an obligation to that child. Based on her actions, I'd say Kate is selfish and self-centered. Disgusting if you ask me.

Yes it is. It's been demostrated that rock musicians sell better, and arguably perform better, if they lead dirty lives. That is basically the whole reason for their existence. People look to those who dare to do the things they would never dare to try. By listening to their strained/pained/excited voices, reading about their beautiful girlfriends and fast cars we can vicariously enjoy those things as well. Vicarious living, much like reading a book or watching a movie, really.

Very Well Said. I love Kate but she's a liar. She keeps telling everybody that she's gonna dump that loser because he's a bad influence to her child, when she's worst!

All celebs fave excuse now, is that they never want to be a role model in the first place. They should think of that when they struggling and wanted to be famous.

she never even wanted to be a fashion model either........she just happened to be good at it and everyone wanted her

thats the thing.........when you are dragged into these situations you are expected to behave and live a certain way, but who should be able to dictate the way you live?

in my opinion, this hasn't damaged Kate in the slightest, EVERYBODY i know is 100% behind her.

Talking of which, Sir Mick Jagger didn't seem too drug-addled after all, either...

Oh I think he did his fair share. A typical example of controlled use - except for the 60s when everything and everybody was out of it.

so what?

drugs are everywhere these days and especially in business involving lots of money.

cant understand why all the fuzz about the kate thing. as long as she keeps being professional in what concerns her career, those wealthy brands shouldn´t care about her personal life or whether she takes drugs or not. i am sure most of the important business men and women working there share similar habits and nobody fires them for such reason. it is just kate's business, in my opinion.

i wish she should quit drugs cos she is a mother with a kid (and i guess none os us here would have wanted her or his mom to have such habits, especially when you are still a kid) but not cos of the fear of losing important contracts... i find there is so much hypocrisy in the world...

drugs kill, we all know... but there are even more millions of people in the world dying of starvation. aint that sad as well?

Even if Kate is a fashion role model, I dont think people are going to do coke because of her. Its like "Oh yeah, did you hear Kate Moss does coke? Lets try it, because she makes it look so coool."

She's already damaged in my opinion. Unfortunately Chanel, Burberry, Rimmel and H & M are not behind her!

Donnatella Versace might help her with a new campaign...:innocent:

well that is all corportate decisions

karl lagerfeld wouldnt have dropped her
bailey wouldnt have dropped her
rimmel havent dropped her actually
and stella for H&M didnt have a choice

its all the people at the top who sit at desks all day protecting their 'brand'
well.......its all bullsh*t IMO

when they were at their lowest point...... she rescued and promoted their brands bringing them up and up

now that she is at a low point they need to return the favour in someway not just dump her flat out
