Lanvin F/W 06.07 Paris

^ I'd say more the last two seasons ;)

But I agree with you. I notice he's replaced his funny brown shoes with something more chic ... uh-oh ... what if it was all in the shoes???? He looks much better now, but the clothes are much worse ... Get those babies resoled, Alber ... tell me you didn't toss them out ... :o Bring back the funky shoes ... and the clothes we love ^_^

i don't know...
i didn't really get very much from the runway presentation last season...
but i think that very often 'quiet' clothes just don't make for WOW satements on the runway...

i am much more impressed with the clothes having seen the lookbook and then in person at the trunk show and now in store...

and if anything...
more stores are carrying the brand...and in larger (much larger) quantities...

so i think the test for these clothes is at retail...
and not on the runway...

i reserve judgement until i see samples...:flower:...

^ speaking of which...are you going to the trunk show?

keep us updated if you are..?;)

Elbaz

I liked Elbaz even when he designed at Guy Laroche and at Krizia Top - for the one season. I even liked what he did a YSL. His clothes are always beautiful and sophisticated, but what do you expect from a guy who worked with Geoffrey Beene? :D

I guess the smoking scheme was due to Yves's latest exhibtion 'SMOKING FOREVER' which Alber & Hedi did pay an homage to thier ex-boss...i guess

indeed. i think it's pretty bad, actually.

ditto, in my book this was maybe the worst Elbaz collection ever...

taz, you are so right on the effect of the 'smoking forever' exhibit at the fondation YSL.. it was one of the biggest influences all over the Parisian collections, wouldnt blame the designers either.. now who did the best 'interprentation'? one thing i know, it wasnt Elbaz..

I'm getting a whiff of the 80s which is never good. some lovely Alberta Ferretti-esque pieces but not much else to shout about. I do love Snejana's dress, the two below her and that gorgeous red puff-sleeved one.

a little while later...i think this may be one the best colelctions he's ever done.;)

I'm still of the same mind about this collection ... the only thing that has altered is that I've seen some editorial coverage of the belts. One was priced around $1200  But the important part was that some of the belts are elastic and therefore more wearable/comfortable than they looked. Still ... I can only hope this whole YSL belt thing is not the trend of an entire decade  When I wish designers to concern themselves with my posture, I'll be sure to let them know ...

Simply a lull. He'll be back.

hope so.. problem is his chair is already cracking at Lanvin and this collection wont help him secure the position..

been working the collections like mad during the last month and i still remain highly dissapointed with monsieur Elbaz :(

I just saw the runway video
