Thank god! i'm not wowed either
as you say it's pure Alber, but i too was expecting something very different.
this is a bit too much like his latest 2-3 collections, which have been a great success and all, but you get the feeling that current times demand a bit of change.
i would rather see him do something totally unexpected and present a body con (with a touch of sl*tty) collection than this.
Sure it would be harder to like. but it would also be very refreshing.
he can do different. so different should be next season!
EDIT: Haider Ackermann is a great example of how this collection could've been perfect. just add a bit of the signature jewelry and exposed zippers and it'd be not just pure lanvin, but new lanvin

I would have been frankly horrified if Alber had presented that. For one, it would have been clear he wasn't doing his own work (oh, hello, Frida ). For another, it's just not Lanvin at all. They may both drape ... and there's silk in both collections ...
I'd far rather have this collection, admittedly not his best, than anything else. Even on a bad day, he's far better than most others ... and, this is authentic.
Ackermann was good, but like you said, not Lanvin and definitely not Alberbear at all! Alber's view of this excessive, yet never gaudy and pretentious, view of dressing is what I feel makes the appeal. It's so chic and luxurious in a very different sense to Ackermann. I'm not sure if I can even call Ackermann luxurious?
(I definitely cannot call what Frida does luxurious. )
I think Ackermann no doubt is a talented designer, but for some reason many of his fans feel the need to compare his draping and designs to other designers to get their opinions across about how great he is, even if their aesthetics are completely different from each other.
I think Alber, no matter how repetitive he could be, has the ability to be never boring for the simple fact that he is not trying to push the boundaries of how to correctly dress a woman, which is to simply make her more beautiful than she already is without going overboard with theatrics, froo, unnecessary embellishments, over worked hair, and showing skin.
