Lanvin S/S 10 Paris

Beautiful collection. Loved everything from cuts to colors to shoes & bags

Thank god! i'm not wowed either
as you say it's pure Alber, but i too was expecting something very different.
this is a bit too much like his latest 2-3 collections, which have been a great success and all, but you get the feeling that current times demand a bit of change.
i would rather see him do something totally unexpected and present a body con (with a touch of sl*tty) collection than this.
Sure it would be harder to like. but it would also be very refreshing.
he can do different. so different should be next season!

EDIT: Haider Ackermann is a great example of how this collection could've been perfect. just add a bit of the signature jewelry and exposed zippers and it'd be not just pure lanvin, but new lanvin

I would have been frankly horrified if Alber had presented that. For one, it would have been clear he wasn't doing his own work (oh, hello, Frida :innocent:). For another, it's just not Lanvin at all. They may both drape ... and there's silk in both collections ...

I'd far rather have this collection, admittedly not his best, than anything else. Even on a bad day, he's far better than most others ... and, this is authentic.

Ackermann was good, but like you said, not Lanvin and definitely not Alberbear at all! Alber's view of this excessive, yet never gaudy and pretentious, view of dressing is what I feel makes the appeal. It's so chic and luxurious in a very different sense to Ackermann. I'm not sure if I can even call Ackermann luxurious?

(I definitely cannot call what Frida does luxurious. :innocent:)

I think Ackermann no doubt is a talented designer, but for some reason many of his fans feel the need to compare his draping and designs to other designers to get their opinions across about how great he is, even if their aesthetics are completely different from each other.

I think Alber, no matter how repetitive he could be, has the ability to be never boring for the simple fact that he is not trying to push the boundaries of how to correctly dress a woman, which is to simply make her more beautiful than she already is without going overboard with theatrics, froo, unnecessary embellishments, over worked hair, and showing skin.

I am bored by Lanvin again. Before,Alber put a lot black and dark on its fall colection like aw 08,aw09,but right now, even in spring,he also turns women to the dark side and powerful side.

Nothing new came out this season, each piece seems so familiar, like black one shoulder dress just looks like the copy from previous season. With Dior by J.G,I am wondering whether both of 2 could really bring something different.

One word,disappointed.Two words,pretty disappointed/Three words,I am done.

There's just no way i could be trying to compare his draping as a fan-reaction, for i am no big fan of Ackermann (i just thing his newest collection is remarkably good) ^_^
with that said, just take any designer doing the same thing for years and years, and no matter how beautiful: you'll be bored!
the sole meaning of fashion implies newness and change and ephemerality.
of course i see the beauty in each and every outfit from this show, I was just saying i'd rather see Alber(bear :flower:) dare to do something a little different, explore new territory... we already know he can do this.
His last summer collection was a little daring (purple pink blue leopard chez Lanvin? :shifty:) but at the end of the day it was good! because it was new! and it was perfect balance between signaturelanvin and "different".
it was in a way challenging to like it, but even more challenging not to!!

if he had gone in the Ackermann direction, he would have for sure come up with something even better (100x more refined 100x more beautiful) but it would've given this little bit of tension, again the challenge of how to look at it, what to like from it.
more and more i find myself loving collections that i don't necessarily like at the beginning (and not in a prada or balenciaga way where that is taken to the extreme) just collections that have this little touch, where something seems not to work, yet the whole thing in fact does. cant quite give that a name

NOTE please Salvatore, fashionista-ta: "F _ i d _" is a name that shall never be used in Lanvin threads!! it's just not decent!

Well there are my usual problems with Lanvin-styling, color, hair & makeup, and set. In addition, I really do not like those jumpsuits (I just hate them in general because they're so inconvenient when you're going to the bathroom...)

BUT
I loove the details. The draping is also very beautiful, as always. The shoes are to die for, and I'm not really a jewelry girl, but here it's very beautiful

Overall it's very beautiful-easily my favorite this season. 8/10

191, Top Right & Bottom Left
196, Bottom Left

Summuvabeech!!!

211 Black Dress: nice, model: scary.

221 and beyond: Are they auditioning for a horror movie in that makeup?

god the details are just out of this world
i am so in love!

I've tried very hard to like this, but this collection no longer gives me the wow, the chill or the excitement he used to bring me. Perhaps many things had been done before...I'm a little bored.
