Luminous, Glowy and Healthy Skin

Hi there, just thought I'd mention that you may not suffer from dry skin but from dehydrated skin- thats my problem and though I have some symptoms that would seem to indicate dryness- like dullness, sometimes light peeling and tightness- it is actually just dehydration. I have been told this by several specialists over the years so I believe it's true. Anyway part of the dangers of getting dryness and dehydration confused is that you may use a lotion for dry skin when in fact you have oily or at least combo skin that is just dehydrated. So then you get break-outs and congestion, etc.
Anyway, hopefully that wasn't to wordy, but basically try to work on hydrating yourself over a week and see if it improves. Drink lots of water, have warm not hot showers, stay away from air-con etc. If it helps then you've got your solution! If not, well write back and tell us!

well i heard vibradermabrasion is less abrasive but quite effective, i cant find anywhere in London that does it tho :(

I also heard it causes less redness, which I like, because I'm afraid of the possible redness/scarring from microdermabrasion.

I mix apple cider vinegar with water (1:1) and use that as a toner. Works pretty well! I don't drink it though, I find the smell already quite strong so I don't want to know about the taste. I just feel better if I use natural things and a lot of water on my face instead of chemicals, I'm a bit of a hippie about that.

I'm a heavy water drinker. So I think I have been hydrating myself well and I take warm showers and I don't have an air conditioner lol I don't know. My skin does feel tight and peels, but I'm not sure if it is dehyration or not. I'm confused lol

Maybe it's a product you are using. Is your cleanser harsh? Maybe you need to switch up your stuff?
Hmmm.

I use Cetaphil which a lot of people seem to find good for sensitive skin which breaks out or responds badly to more complicated fancy cleansers. The bonus is that it's really cheap and simple. For moisturizers, I used a really good lotion from Biotherm called Biosensitive Soothing gel-cream Moisturizer http://www.biotherm.ca/_en/_ca/facecare/index_prod.aspx?prdcode=004402&CatCode=AXE_FACE_CARE^F1_VIS_MOISTURE^F2_VIS_MOISTURE_Cream&

If your skin is dull you might want to try a face mask once in a while- look for one that says 'hydrating' or 'refreshing'.
Exfoliants are good too, like NiveaVisage Gentle Face Cleansing Cream... but don't use it every day!

Hopefully I'm being helpful

I have really dull skin and it's a bit dry. Not severly, but still enough for it to bother me. Whenever I try to use a moisturizer (I have really sensitive skin) it makes me look really greasy or I tend to break out. And also some cleaners dry my skin out even more. Does anyone have any recommendations for dry sensitive skin? I need to find a good cleaner and moisturizer. And since my skin is very dull, do you guys recommend a facial scrub.

For dull skin I use and love Angels on Bare skin by Lush!

You know - I have terribly dry skin, too. I have never experienced peeling, but I get extremely dry spots around my nose, especially. I can say that I cannot attribute this to dehydration - I drink plenty of water daily, and have for years.

Bump.

How are Revlon Skinlights? I need a cheap replacement for my Benefit High Beam, and I'm having trouble finding something.

I personally started to use everything from the bodyshop.

Hi All,

This Thread is too cool... looks like i have been searching for this forum. Well, I belong to India and have a dusky/wheatish complexion.. with fairly a good skin. Have been ritualitically following the cleansing routine...but can anyone recommend what are the best products for India Skin out of Clarins, Sheshiedo, Estee Lauder, Lancome... and am looking for a good night repair/rejunative cream .. any suggestion..
well, i completely agree with water, excercise, right food and all that......

For the night repair-
SkinCeuticals Intense Line Defense changed my life- took a year or two off me already and I'm only 26.

^^Everyone ages differently. I've seen people who I thought were late 30's/early 40's and I found out they were in their twenties that either were aging poorly because of genetics or their lifestyle (some people never use anything on their face). Think of the years of dead cell buildup.

It doesn't hurt to take care of your skin while you're younger. It'll be in better condition when you're older. My cousin is getting closer to 40 but looks more like someone in their early 30s or even late 20s. Of course it doesn't hurt that we have really good aging genetics and the family has the tendency to be pretty young looking. I've seen people who look older in their 70s than my 91 yr. old Grandmother.

aspirin mask all the way!

honestly it just makes your skin glow.

i went without it for a couple of weeks because i was too lazy to get more aspirins and my skin just went bad. My skin looked blotchy even with make up and it felt dirty all the time.

I just used the mask two days ago and my skin just glows. My foundation smooths on better, looks better, and stays on longer!

i dont know how to explain it. amazing may sound generic but it really does just that.

why does ANYONE in their twenties need to take years off their face????

I work two full-time jobs, never sleep enough and have a lot of stress around deadlines- I can easily look older than I am or, if I use products, I can look my age or younger. Plenty of people do it and it gets me ahead for when I'm in my thirties... I wont have an uphill battle.

just wondering do you have problems with your skin or any acne? I have known about the salicylic acid from aspirin for years and never used it on myself, but the girls at makeupalley rave about it daily. I guess I've never done it because my skin is drier and sensitive...how is yours?
