Luminous, Glowy and Healthy Skin

This will sound stupid and obvious, but instead of the usual 3-6, I've been sleeping for 8 hours every night since summer started (only two weeks). My skin is very healthy! Now I'll just have to try the aspirin thing to make it glow...

the opposite i think happened to me( and for most people)

sinc summer started i dont have a set time of when i go to sleep. I think it has taken a toll in my skin. That and the fact that i have more time eating junk.

Allegedly, Zinc is good for the skin. As is flaxseed oil, omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin, C, Biotin...

Really?? Then maybe it's because I've been eating healthier and have been trying to sleep earlier... I guess I'm the opposite then. During the school year I eat junk and sleep at random times haha.

Reducing oil gets rid of pimples and oily skin.

Lack of sleep causes pimples and bad skin.

For people who live in cold countries, it is important to use LOTS of cream/ moisturizer as a dry and cold climate causes aging faster (As opposed to those who live in hot/ humid countries)

Sunscreen everyday. It wears off within 3 hours, so if you are out in the sun, its important to refresh it. I use an SPF 50.

Molton Brown gel face wash
and a Clinique scrub.

I occasionally use a natural face pack made of sandalwood and other things.

Last night I did the honey and aspirin mask (I love honey... it always gives me that instant glow) and put on a layer of aloe vera gel afterward. My skin looks a million times better today.

I've heard that sunscreen above 30 is bad for the body and skin..

^^ why?
My skin is never great but OMG in the summer the hot, sweaty nights kill me. I look terrible when I wake up.

No idea  I just overheard it when I was at the gym on the cruise I went to and there was a woman who had 'lectures' about the body, etc..

She said smth about that sunscreen over 30 is bad for the body and the skin..

The aspirin mask really improves that... it gets rid of the sweat and stuff. And try the lemon juice thing Erin talked about. I agree though... Those hot nights do not help the modelish looks. :ninja:

i second that!

my skin gets this tired, sticky during the summer and the aspirin mask neutralizes my skin back to normal.

My quick list for having glowy, dewy, healthy skin
This applies to both what you consume (internal), and what products you apply on your face (external)
1. Drink lots of water
Important for your body to have the moisture it needs. If you're dehydrated, then it shows on your face.

2. Get 7-9 hours of sleep each day, and maintain a consistent sleeping schedule
When we sleep, our bodies rejuvenates, reparing our skin cells from the damages of environmental stress i.e. sun rays, pollution, etc.

3. Exercise
Gets the heart pumping, blood circulation rushing throughout our bodies and faces - usually after I exercise, I find that I get a nice flush to my face.

4. Avoid processed foods and eat natural organic products
Avoid white processed flour, refined sugar since they can stall collagen renewal and make your face not as smooth. Eat plenty of veggies and fruits! I also like to take Omega 3 salmon fish pills from Trader Joe's - helps make my face really smooth

5. Exfoliate
Very important because it removes dead skin cells, and is a closer step to having glowy, dewy skin. I don't like to use St. Ives' Apricot Scrub because it's too harsh - the apricot bits have jagged edges which can tear the skin and aggravate it. I prefer to use Neutrogena's Acne Exfoliating scrub since it has gentle microbeads while delivering acne proection.

6. MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE!
I use Cetaphil's moisturizer, which comes in a huge *** jar. Cheap and very effective - has sweet almond oil, good for the skin.

7. Sunscreen protection
I like to use Sofina' sunscreen UV Perfect because it's non greasy, has mattifying properties and offers superior protection: SPF 50 PA+++

8. OIL Cleansing!
At first, I was pretty skeptical about oil cleansing because my face is originally oily to begin with, but using the oil cleanser, Kose's Softymo Oil Cleanser or DHC's Oil Cleanser, the oil cleansing method does really leave my face dewy and refreshed because the oil picks up the dirt, dead skin cells and as I'm massaging it onto my face, I can feel that my pores are really cleaned.

9. Smile more and Don't Stress OUT
Stress wears down on the face, so be happy and relaxed. Take up yoga or pilates to free up your mind!

We tend to stress out about our skin. Remember to keep an open mind and have a positive attitude because beauty is really skin deep! :flower:

I'm definitely going to try this now :woot: Do you guys use it in morning or night?

It depends. I put a little yesterday on the forehead... And today I did the whole thing. It depends if you've dry or oily skin. I tend towards the latter.
So if you wake up with awful skin I suggest putting it on before going to bed. Good luck :flower:

how do one make the aspirin mask?

buy or look around your house for aspirin. take 4-6 tablets and uncoated ones would be preferrable.

If you have uncoated ones put it on a small bowl and put a a few droplets of water. it should dissolve within seconds.

if you have coated ones, youll have to grind it. i use a pestle and mortar in my kitchen to do that.

Make sure the consistency you make is thick and not liquidy. i personally put a finger under the faucet and let water run on it. let 3-5 drops from your finger in the bowl.

then on a damp face spread your creation all over it. wait 15-20 mins till it dries.

^what exactly does the asprin mask do for your skin? :flower:

idk if this is good for your skin, but it actually works well for me  i use a hot rag to soothe my skin, not every day but a few times a week. i think of it as sterilizing your face. ^_^ i either boil or microwave water and then soak the rage inside the hot water and about 5 minutes after i drain the water oout of the rag and let it rest on my face and wipe skin. i notice that afterwards my skin feels so smooth and if there are any pimples, the size has been significantly reduced. but idk if this isn't good for the long run or not :ermm:

-gets rids of excess oil
-makes your skin soft(gets rid of dead skin)
-pores get smaller
-makes applying makeup much smoother

Yeah I used to do that, and I felt the same results. It's just that I worried sometimes the rag was carrying bacteria so I stopped doing it as much. But when I do, I remember why I like it so much!
