M by Madonna for H&M

trench and these trousers look really nice.. but I find it really boring that madonna is designing for H&M again.. I would like to have seen someone else doing it

no you're not, I love Madonna too! It seems everyone wants to jump on the anti-Madonna bandwagon at the moment.People are very quick to dismiss her fashion credentials but they forget how incredible her stage costumes have been for the last 25 years and I cant count the number of trends she has been responsible for launching.

Yes, the tracksuit was awful but lets wait and see what else she comes up with before we start bashing and ruling out the whole line altogether.

An impressive feel for fashion and trends? Please - I wouldn't buy anything designed by Madonna if you paid me. She's either styled by someone else at awards shows or else is some baggy tracksuit. I give her credit for being quite fearless and sticking with something (I personally loved her purple bodysuit) but the woman should stick to yoga and whatever else she does.

amen. i know she was a great influence in fashion back in the day, when she had a bit of an edge with clothes [though my punk rock-lover mother insists she stole looks from the less-commercial singers :innocent::heart: ], but she's lost sense of what's going on now IMO, i'd probably find LAMB more entertaining than madonna's designs..or madonna-signed designs anyway.

I'm getting to the point I start feeling insulted by the clothes we are fed. I have seen the 3 sketches a million times and now I refuse to tolerate another trench coat/skirt/whatever there is there. enough.

i'm dismayed by the anti-madonna bent the media has been on as well...

i didnt think that the track suits were all that bad. i purchased one and it fit me perfectly. and the price was very reasonable.

i think its an incredibly smart move for H&M. they need reasons for people to come into the store throughout the year, rather than only occasionally or when a special event occurs.

i hope the first sketch is of a leather jacket.

the trasksuits are on sale in europe already apparently.

excerpts from a fashionweekdaily story.

New ‘M by Madonna’ line announced for March debut

The 30-piece collection—consisting of tailored dresses and tops with feminine, modern, and narrow silhouettes—will be available along with the 10 or so matching accessories in H&M’s more than 1,300 stores worldwide, unlike the company’s past three designer collaborations with Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, and Viktor & Rolf, which were only sold at top flagship stores in key cities. “This is a more of a style icon collaboration versus a designer collaboration,” noted an H&M spokeswoman.

According to a company spokesperson, prices for the “M by Madonna” collection will be similar to the rest of the H&M seasonal collections and the pieces will reflect her “unique, timeless, and glamorous style.” The collection will be housed in custom-made shop-in-shop environments and will feature special H&M labels distinguishing these designs from the company’s other offerings. No special campaigns have yet been shot for this line, though the spokeswoman said that the “M by Madonna” collection will be the focus of H&M’s main spring campaign.

I'm really interested in seeing the dress. I like the shape.

I don't think Madonna was responsible for designing these things, but that this is än "inspired by" collection. (ie. I don't think Madonna is trying to pretend to be a designer but that H&M approached her and said "we want to do a line inspired by you, do you approve?", she said yes, did a few interviews with the designers was given a chance to approve the final results (since they're attaching it to her name, she should like the pieces) and that's the extent of her collaboration. That's my GUESS anyway.)

hmm. i'm not so sure about your theory, assembler...

madonna has always been a big creative control freak so to me its unlikely that she wouldnt have a big hand in this.

i am intruiged by the H&M rep calling this a "style icon collaboration". hopefully the collection might be reminiscent of some of her stage/video costumes.

what clothes would you like to see in madonna's collection sayan? x

Those sketches look good! I hope they'll still look good when they hit the stores

just when the world got dark thanks to karl and his disappointing collection for chanel < except for that one look>, and one thinks that it couldn't get any worse...it does get worse. m for madonna...m also stands for minggin....but till we see the clothes...let's give her some sympathy...and a chance to prove herself.

I just read the press release at work today...made me giggle a little bit. I just can't take this seriously...somebody help me!:P

and, I agree with Assembler, i never bought into the myth (or at least what i think is a myth) of celebrity designers. I doubt Gwen Stefani, Madonna, whoever-else actually do the designing.

Not a fan of this at all. I've looked through it a few times, and have not found anything that I have even remotely liked.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. Knowing Madonna (after being a fan for a looooong time) she is VERY hands on regarding everything she does. She's a perfectionist who always likes to have the final say and control over every little aspect and has a VERY keen sense and a sharp eye for detail. My guess is that Madonna maybe made some rough sketches or made some mood boards over pieces and elements of clothing she really likes, forwarded that to H&M and then had countless meetings to trim, alter and change the sketches they came up with to fit her original ideas.

Madonna has over the years always been at the forefront of some of the biggest fashion trends and paved the way for style changes. Even to this day, the entire Farrah Fawcett, retro disco-glam look. It might not always been "invented" by her (but seriously, which look is invented by any celeb these days without the help of a label or stylist), but she has always been a HUGE instrument to bring the look across to a large audience. And in that, she is a force to be reckoned with. She deserves quite some credit for that, credit a LOT of designers give her btw. As she is a fav of D&G, Stella, Gaultier, Lacroix, D-squared, etc, etc...

I personally can't wait for the ad campaign, and I hope she gets Jean-Baptiste Mondino to shoot the campaign. They have made magic before...

Absolutely not! She's always been in the center of my heart. :P

i do like her but..i saw the skechtes .. look terrible ..too me.. she has every clothes she wants now she wants to have people to look like her.. or to think that she made those clothes or that she is gonna to wear them..maybe she just have to copy them frm others designers and put it on her name...sorry i don't wanna hear ,i don't wanna know just like better clothes than chep ones

i think she should stick to the cone bra of gaultier....
she should make an innovation for that!

or here's an idea... a tracksuit with conebra!!!
