Marni for H&M

ok, so i know she is "revisiting" favorite pieces but lets face it marni shapes are not always the most flattering, and the textures [not just the prints] are what truly make the clothing take form and make if fabulous.

i agree 100%! remember how shapeless the garments for marrimekko for H&M collection were? the marni collection could be a repeat of that.

i've owned a bunch of marni garments over the years and i've passed them all along to other folks. i thought they belonged on women that were 30 years older than me.

woah, i didnt even know they did a colloboration with marimekko. was it an official designer collaboration? by official i mean its the annually announced designer collaboration thats hyped up and released on november.

It's good but isn't it too soon?!

Versace just launched 10 days ago, there's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, another Versace in Spring...

wouldn't it be amazing if H&M just did a line with good quality and fashion forward design consistently without relying on a designer collaboration?

Yes and no. It was spring (2009) like this one. Which I guess they use for lesser known designers (see: matthew williamson, sonia rykiel, etc.)

MW had a double release tho too. 2 collections basically.

i think what i'm most excited about is that i'll have a chance to shop for these in the store without sleeping outside for three days and risking my life to save a few bucks. although there will be a huge following for this, it's not going to be as crazy as versace.

I don't know, this is just the way I perceive it, but I think the fact that Marni isn't as well known as Versace won't change anything about how much hype there will be. Since the collaboration was announced so much ahead of its release there's enough time for wannabe-fashionistas to familiarize themselves with the brand and be the cool "long-time Marni-fans" by the time the collection hits the stores. I heard so many women talk about the signature unfinished hems in the Lanvin collection and I was dead-sure that most of them had never looked at Lanvin collection prior to the announcement of the H&M collaboration.

It's interesting though I was put off so much by the Versace collection because of all the hype and knowing so many people will own pieces from the collection. I think my brain went like this: "mass market & too much hype --> no exclusivity --> not interesting to me". If the Marni collection will indeed be as nice as I expect it to me and there won't be as much hype around it I might actually be more interested in possibly purchasing something from the collection, lol. Looking at all the delicious fashion on tFS really f's up how you look at lower quality mass market fashion :innocent::rofl:

I with they went the Sonia and Williamson route and increased the stores that carry this line by a huge margin. Rather have time to take a look at it on my own time.

Marni usually isn't my cup of tea, but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what all will be in the line. (If those silver shoes that were in the video will be for sale, I'd go to the store just for those.)

H&M tapped Sofia Coppola to direct the advertising film/campaign for the Marni collection. Ad shot in Marrakech, Morocco.

that is wonderful news. Can't believe I am actually excited for one of these horribly managed H&M collaborations.

it'd set a nice precedent if one item in every h&m collaboration donated money to a cause

Lanvin had a bag which did the same, as did Sonia Rykiel and I believe some of the Matthew Williamson swimswear was also for charity.
