Model Behavior (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

Candice posted a scene from Marriage Story on her IG story where Laura Dern talks about women always having to be perfect mothers, but men being allowed to mess up with no consequences.

Might be related to International Women's Day only, but an interesting message to post.

Can 'changing genders' (such a casual phrase!) be compared to a face tattoo?
I don't think people love to hate Presley, it's more that he loves the fact that people 'hate' him. It's a common phase with the immature, like temper tantrum and attention-seeking.

Presley’s going through it given his lack of mainstream success compared to Kaia, and it shows.

And yes, I’m sure the media will eat up the fact that he compared being transgender/transitioning to getting Juvederm from the dermatologist’s office or getting a tattoo on your face. So odd. Regardless of whether or not all three are “aesthetic procedures”, one serves a completely different purpose than the other two.

He's hot, but he looks exactly the type to compare his terrible ''Misunderstood'' face tattoo to gender changing operation. Insensitive, spoiled, entitled and outright stupid. Might as well become another insufferable youtuber and stop wasting everyone's time with his play-pretend modeling career. He's got the right attention-seeking natural disposition for drama and self-pitying.

Spoiled, immature and entitled child. As a side note, isn't English his first language? What an oddly written post. What on earth does "most and a lot" mean?

Bella didn't like photographers work for her Vogue Greece cover. Photographer found out lol.

To my knowledge, Yolanda never appeared on a Vogue cover. Would you still classify her as a supermodel, Will?
Career-wise they've both surpassed hear years ago already. And to be fair, a huge part of what secured them bookings at first was more their reality tv and Kardashian association than the fact that their mother modelled before.

Quite some time back someone posted a clip in this thread that uncovered how Yolanda prepped her girls for modelling industry. I believe she's living vicariously through them. Basically they've succeeded where she failed.

On point as always Benn. And I think Will meant she ain't no supermodel too.

Yolanda was a successful working model in the 1980s and 1990s. She was not considered 'first tier', nor was she a peer of any of the Supermodels. A lot of models love to rewrite history, because after all who's going to check? For years Tyra Banks has brought up her feud with Naomi, as if she was on Naomi's level professionally. I admire Tyra's business acumen, but to make out that she was somehow neck and neck with Naomi back in the day is a falsehood. Where are the Vogue covers? Where are the campaigns? As Janice Dickinson once said, "Tyra you shot for Elle, I shot for Vogue."

Add in media hyperbole and the over-use of the word supermodel, and the truth is not even relevant.

At the end of the day, maybe it doesn't matter if she misrepresents her past career. Yolanda just walked a major show over 50, how many models - super or not - can say that? More power to her.

^ and then making it to PFW was only thanks to her daughters. The long-term investment she's embarked on since 2012 finally paid off.

Honestly, the photographer comes off as the difficult kind. He wasn't even mentioned and is all over her message 5 minutes after she replied? and with a here-comes-the-meltdown 'seriously?' opener?. That's not 'photographer found out', that's photographer is stalking bad as in refreshing every 2 minutes and even blocked out that see she was being criticized; the face will always receive harsher criticism to deal with, not his sacred ~photography~.

It seems to me that back in the day the creation of fashion imagery was seen more as a collaborative effort in which it was understood that the photographer needs that particular face in order to stay relevant in that field (otherwise he'd be photographing for National Geographic) just like the face benefits from the photographer, preferably a prestigious one for her career to keep moving. This major distance in hierarchies now, in which the photographer is above everyone and the model is often times not even credited, and should at all times nod in gratitude that she gets to be photographed at all and her input is not necessary and any suggestion, discontent, discomfort, etc, are 'unprofessional' and career suicide because 'there's always going to be someone willing to do that job with a better attitude'.. I'm not even going to get into the sexist undertones of that, I'll just say that quality teamwork (the kind from the late 80s-90s when models were empowered- from Kirsten and Paolo, Linda and Steven to even Cass Bird and Daria) has always been far more beneficial to fashion and produced images that became parameters in many ways. Bella had enough humility to say 'I agree', perhaps the photographer could use some of that..

Anyway, this is probably the least of her concerns right now. I've been listening to the Weeknd's new album lol.. he makes a minor reference to 'the work done on her face'. Man.. if a female rapper dared airing all their laundry in such a resentful way (from calling him minute man to short to 'barely finished elementary, didn't even know how to grab a fork, but my baby in his lambo is all I'm for!'), they'd become a meme and would never recover..

A few models have been getting into hot water for some posts they've made about coronavirus. Kendall and Hailey were both called out earlier this week for initially reposting some statistics that somewhat downplayed the illness.

Footage of Carla Bruni at the Celine show making fun of coronavirus concerns and fake coughing on people has been circulating on twitter.

Now Doutzen has just posted a series of instagram stories apologizing after posting something on her feed that had said, "Thank you, Coronavirus." She deleted the post that had some angered but there are some screenshots floating around.

Between this and Sam Smith and the Gal Gadot Imagine fiasco, I'm kind of amazed that it took us a literal global pandemic to realize how much we've been fed the fabrication of celebrities being "quirky and relatable and just soooo like us" to capitalize on our insecurities and human need for validation...

Goodness, I can’t stand posts claiming the coronavirus is only about as bad as the average flu, stating “Corona kills less!” It’s a painful disease, and, moreover, it’s all extremely new to us. We can’t use skewed statistics (keep in mind it is currently flu season) and call it a day. Health specialists are predicting COVID-19 to have a higher death rate than the flu.

Hanaa Ben Abdesslem's husband appears to be a bit on the punchy side, that's if you can read past all the embarrassing typos!

You know how they say that those who torture animals may well go on to become serial killers? My THEORY is that if this bloke sees nothing wrong to let his fists do the talking on a stranger, what's to stop him from taking it out on his wife if she steps out of line?
...
They met at Lake Como two years ago where Lamba told the model on their first date that she would be his wife

I agree with your theory. I’d also add that it frustrates me to no end when people treat those “I’m gonna marry you” pronouncements on a first date or “I’m gonna date you” on first sight as though they’re romantic. A man implying your lack of agency from the get-go? Run for the hills!

Not surprised at Kendall and Hailey because they're just your usual LA set who live in a bubble, completely out of touch with the rest of society. Neither at Carla because she seems like the type whose entire raison d'etre is to say and do the most ridiculous things just to rile everyone up.
But you'd think a professional crusader like Doutzen would have more common sense to gauge that her message could very easily be misinterpreted. Apparently she posted a video in which we (should) thank the COVID-19 for making us appreciate the simplest things in life. What really happened is that she tried to 'pick a cause' once again and it backfired on her!

Chiara's IG stories below. Some may think she's overreacting and Italians are generally known to get very 'passionate', but a week ago she donated 100K to a fundraising event to help raise 3.3million Euros to battle Italy's coronavirus crisis. Never could abide her, but I believe she's genuinely concerned/invested in the crisis and specifically how it's affecting Italians.

I personally don't think she is overreacting. There is absolutely no need ever to 'find the positive' in a truly devastating situation where countless are dying and more are losing livelihoods. It is not positive to find the bright side of wars or terrorist attacks. It absolutely baffles me how people can show absolutely zero sensitivity to all this death. Imagine someone close to you being one of those deaths racking up every day and how you would feel about models/influencers posting their gratitude for the disease. Just plain stupid and cruel.

Agreed. And her apology optics are..... problematic. 'Spring is in the air', kiddies playing in the backyard, sunset filters on her vid = not a worry in her world....she's obviously privileged (not necessarily in terms of wealth) which makes her comment about 'looking at the bright side' event more tone-deaf considering she's not exactly in the firing line.
