Oh my god, I know! I saw one pic today of her in the Iceberg show, she did a handful of lesser known designers plus DvF in New York, but that's about it. I think it's possible that she's just too pretty for this season, when sweetness and light seem out of style. I also think management has a ton to do with it. IMG girls always lead the model pack, because IMG is such a good agency that really goes to bat for its models.

I think that this season there have been some girls who really were on the verge of becoming really, really big, quantity wise, that are missing out because of all these new strange girls. Such girls like Maria Dvirnik, Romina Lanaro, Elena Baguci, Katarina Ivanovska, Morgane Dubled, Julia Dunstall, Marta Berzkalna, Lesley Masson, Drielle Valeretto, Ekaterina Kashyntseva etc. I mean, they are doing shows, of course... but I just feel that they aren't around as much as they should be. And each and every one of those girls have great potential to be huge. Yet they are having mediocre seasons.

(New) girls that are spoiling it for them are perhaps Coco Rocha, Irina Lazareanu, Heidi Verster, Tanya Dziahileva, Du Juan, Hilary Rhoda and a lot of other girls who are only appearing very sporadically, but are obviously taking in the places of the girls I mentioned above.

I think that the fashion world is trying to reinvent the modeling world too soon and too fast this season. The fashion world should pay more attention to reinventing the fashion world first, because this season has been relatively boring, lets face it. Not that I do not encourage the second list of girls to become big (I love them all) by the way, but I feel that those other girls deserve just as much, if not more attention and exposure. It's those really unknown girls that are appearing only sporadically that are 'ruining' it for both groups.

Also I think that Snejana Onopka, Sasha Pivovarova and Freja Beha Erichsen are 'ruining' it for everybody, because they are everywhere, yet I do not get them on the runway. Especially Sasha. And Daria Werbowy shouldn't be opening so many shows. There are so many girls of that first list that should open way more.

truth to be told i like Miuccia's idea of letting new faces do the show. i mean, it's a great opportunity for every new model and quite exciting to see the new ones. so *thumbs up* from me

I am amazed by, as model mom put it nicely, how the "scary looking" girls are really owning the industry at the moment.

I am really amazed at how Sasha's height has such little effect over the shows she gets-she's listed at 5'8.5, making her anywhere from that height to 5'7...Laws don't seem to have that much effect over Camila Finn getting shows, despite her age, same with Tanya...Liya, Gemma, and Daria have basically all gone into the platinum gates of supermodeldom- none of them seem to be going outside of the NY shows, and I wouldn't be too suprised if not one of them shows up on more than a few runways again (until they make a Tasha Tilberg-esque comback, that is)...Natasha, Lisa Cant, and Heather Marks are just a few of the big girls that seem to be losing out to Hilary, Irina, and Snejana...and finally-is anyone else afraid of that Heidi Verster girl? She is soo strange looking!


PLUS- Maybe these models should have a "Have you seen me?" on the back of a milk carton, because they just haven't done that much- if anything- this season.

Oh, and Asian faces seem to be everywhere in modeling these days. I have yet to see a big show in Milan featuring a black model, but for the last two season, Asian models have been everywhere.

I think Tanya would be ok if she lost the scary look in her eyes...but honestly, 14 yrs old is wayyyy too young to be doing this on a full time basis. And the fact that she has that dead look to her eyes at the age of 14 freaks me out.

I don't know who said that Daria is not walking much...she has already done close to 30 shows this season, opening 9 to date, with Paris still to go! She is everywhere like she never left!

Why do you think Snejana is "ruining" it for everybody? I think she's one of the most unique and striking models out there; definitely more so than Freja (cutely simian at best) and Sasha (no-holds-barred ugly, in my opinion).

Other new girls I don't "get" are Flavia Oliveira (near-butterface), Tanya D. (so young, so frightening), Claudia Merikula (wayyy too childlike), and Heather Bratton (sweet jesus...!!! ). Irina Lazareanu's facially plain, but has enough of an edge to get by. Julia Dunstall's interesting-looking, and Du Juan's quite attractive in her own right. I'm indifferent to Hilary Rhoda; she reminds me of a plainer Jennifer Connelly (who I consider beautiful).

I've always liked Daria's look, and I'm glad she's back on the scene.

I love Du Juan most among the new faces, she has the look which is appealing to both Westerners and Asians. Western people may find Hye Park a beauty, but lots of Asians don't think the same.
Anyway, Lily D, Raquel Z, Daria and Elise (please make a great comeback)are still my all time favorites....

i get freja's appeal, and even snejana. but nobody is ever going to convince me that "deformed" is the new trend in modeling.

with apologies to little tanya, and nothing actually personal, cause she's really young and i'm sure a sweet little thing, but honey, leave the modelling to the professionals.

and i think girls who have flaws are appealing. julia s. has the funny smile, gemma with those bug eyes...but this is taking the idea of "flaw" to a whole new level.

i was actually thinkingabout this thread earlier and thats what popped into my mind too. maybe daria and gemma and the like are getting to big. surely their fees must be huge. maybe the designers dont want to deal with that.
