Model Casting S/S 2019

So weird about Anna Selezneva not being in the show

Vanessa Axente on del Moro show! Nice to see her always and Finally in Milano!

Is Anita Bitton still Celine's casting director? I saw her liked Celine's recent posts.

I hope this is the right thread to post something like this. Does anyone have any idea why the top walker so far this season walked 11 shows in New York, and most of the current top runway girls walked 5 - 10 shows, whereas 5 or 10 years ago, sooo many girls were walking 15 or even 20+ shows in New York, and like 60 or sometimes 70+ overall. I guess it's less chaotic for the girls but I just wonder how and why it's changed like this over time?

Spotted Liu, Joan, Karen, Saskia, Lakshmi ( ) and Irina Shayk at MaxMara just now, along with the usual crew of Gigi, Kaia, Adut, Vittoria, Fran, and Sora. Shocked to see Anok there, as well---thought Prada would surely keep her as an exclusive again. Curious now to see where else she'll appear in Milan.

^I guess it's just the number of shows that has dicreased over the years. Some brands disappeared from the radar, some designers do lookbooks/presentation instead, some don't show on the runway for a season... And a few shows are now happening before the official Fashion Week calendar (e.g. Alexander Wang, Narciso Rodriguez in June).
It's the same when a model used to open and close 10+ shows a season. It doesn't happen anymore, and even then, is it still relevant? I also remember how big and decisive was the BCBG Max Azria casting. The top new faces of a season used to start from there. These shows are now gone. It's all so different now.

Adding to what Valentine27 said, I think some agencies also try and keep their girls as selective as possible. It's better to have a few loyal clients that will book you each season than be the girl who opens and closes lots of shows for one or two seasons and then we never see her again. Although perhaps I'm wrong and @Scouting Snapper can chime in?

Fendi opened and closed the show with girls of color. Adut looks stunning.

The dynamics of the fashion game especially on the runway has changed so much ...when i started 10 yrs ago ..you had to be able to walk that was the 1st thing (a lot of these girls can't) & the ones that can (for the most part ) never last because of the lust for cheaper newer faces..So the artistry & passion is gone...with Instagram (nepo models ) ,the lack of diversity in casting directors ,the poiltricks, the constant turnover of models..the amount some of the established girls are paid is much less than 10 yrs ago so a lot of girls who have walked over 200 shows are very selective nowadays ..most of the others have just faded ..if u survive 2 yrs of walking 20 plus big shows a season u are doing very very well in today's climate lol ..i feel even now for a model to walk more than 200 shows in a career is a massive achievement..i doubt even 2% of the top new girls will ever do that ..fashion has changed so much ..the runway is now a afterthought for the most part .. Milan used to be the city that made runway superstars ...it's not the same anymore ...such a shame...but the world has changed so it is what it is ...

^ I concur. Let's not also forget that the past 10 years there has been a monsoon in new scouts, agencies and new faces. Add to that all the social media channels in which 'new (read cheap) faces' are easily discovered around the clock. I mean It's Prada-day and its so quiet in here, oh how things have changed indeed.
