Natacha Ramsay-Levi Leaving Chloé, *Update* Gabriela Hearst Announced as Creative Director

^ Plus they have a whole new team @ Chloé HQs dedicated to the SEE BY line...

I thought her collection recently was on point as being Chloe, so i'm a bit sad for this departure but also excited for new arrival.

So I guess Clare didn't renew her contract, meaning she's OFFICIALLY out at Chloe.

i don't think they need a new design direction, i think they just need to reevaluate their production and bring prices down...

Go buy See by Chloe.

I am just a little sad that we only have alphabet bags till letter M. Her and her team really create some nice bags.

chloe is gorgeous as it is...
it's just outrageously expensive for bohemian dresses...

if they added a little hardware to the boho look, that would make it really modern and edgier...

mix stevie nicks with chrissie hynde...
a good mix imho...

sounds like the incoming designer might have the chops for that sort of thing...

:flower:

With its workmanship, the line was getting into demi-couture territory. And yes, the prices reflected this.

Personally I liked that the house was showing off this expertise but I suppose $8,000 day dresses are hard to sell!

so excited to learn of a new person coming, Chloe certainly will do better with some dusting off that best-of collection presented season after season. Like someone said, they are all sorts of PRETTY clothings yes, but no innovation in terms of design, and certainly no edge or uniqueness at all to it.

the new designer should be able to put it back into the fashion radar again.

I wanted to be ecstatic about this news, and then I have to read that the girl who is famous for being Oliver Zahm's girlfriend is going to be the head designer.

F this sh*t!!!!

Yeah, I know she "worked with Ghesquire" but she's nothing more than an it girl.

The fashion industry is seriously stupid right now.

I was surprised they appointed her she is such a useless b!tch, she has no proper design experience , more of a stylist if anything and overkill on Instagram thats it. I give her 2 seasons max.

TOTALLY agree with u

i don't like her either but she was head of pre at balenciaga for years, what are you talking about

By the opinions being posted here about Keller's successor, I'm already frightened of what's to happen. I just hope this new person doesn't make (or even attempt) Chloe a "cool" brand, we have enough of those already! Leave the label, how lackluster it might be for some, where it is.. clothes for WOMEN!

I had a soft spot for Clare. When you went to the store her clothes were REALLY well made and quite desirable.

Anyway, as Balenciaga design director, I have a little bit of hope for Natacha. We will see. It will be nice to see Chloé taking a different direction.

Being a stylist is not the same as being a designer. You apparently don't know the difference.

They should just bring Hannah back, she had that quirky edginess but was able to balance it with Chloe's ethos.

^ If only!

I also completely agree with you, Toni.

Chloe, love or hate the head designer, has been one of the most consistent labels in terms of identity -- even when the designers had different approaches and aesthetics (from extreme minimal to earth-goddess to romantic). I really don't need to see this Ghesquire hanger-on to turn it into something that pleases the twats on social media (twats she is likely to relate to given her Purple Diary fame is more noteworthy than her design resume), most of whom will never buy the clothes.

I'm expecting her to ruin the house like Slimane ruined YSL.

Maybe I'm overreacting, I hope so... somebody point me to this post a few years form now if I'm wrong and laugh at me.

I hope many of us are overreacting because I really like Chloe where it is. It's a little bit boring but the clothes are beautiful and it goes in the line with marketing and communication. I enjoy the position in the market it takes and there're not a lot of other brands doing things like this. Not every brand needs a revamp, it just needs a bit of a push.

Isabelle Hupert wore Chloe custom to the BAFTAS, I wonder did she had her hands in that.

I don't think so, as Isabelle Huppert already wore custom Chloe dresses at last years Cannes Film Festival.

I agree with what has been said here, they don't need to change their entire identity, just perhaps update it to make it slightly more relevant.

Will N-R Levi present her new collection this upcoming fashion week already?

^Fall/Winter 2017 collection is designed by Clare, it's her final bow

where do you get your false information from?

https://www.linkedin.com/in/natacha-ramsay-lévi-33199245/

i don't even know why i'm defending her but she's worked with nicholas for 15+ years so i'm pretty sure she's picked up some skills along the way and she doesn't deserve to be called a 'useless b!tch'

and if you read the article reuters wrote about the studio situation at LV you'd know how crucial her role within the team there was.

^Absolutely. Being the design director is the most important role in a studio after the CD. I don't get why people think she's a stylist. Styliste in French doesn't mean 'stylist'. And she was at Balenciaga from 2002 to 2013, that's really crazy, and more considering how fast people get fired in fashion houses. Most of the people I know working in big brands have to thank god if they get their six months (one year at most) contracts renewed.

People and their "alternative facts"

People may not like Ramsay but she has been designing the pre-collections and running Nichola's studio for some time (though not for 15 years, it was actually Bouchra Jarrar for a good chunk of those years).

I'd say she's due to take on a house of her own and Chloe makes a lot of sense. If she's lucky she'll make it into the French cool girl emporium and help Chloe take the market share that Isabel Marant's stagnation has freed up.

THAT SAID, I also think she was the cause of Ghesquiere's slow decline and is directly responsible for his string of flat collections.

So, my expectations aren't high. I have an inkling her transformation of Chloe will be akin to Julie De Libran's dumbing down of Sonia Rykiel. Or worse, look not that dissimilar from Paulo Melim Anderson's ill-fated Chloe stint.
