Everyone, please write to [email protected] and voice your opinions!

I think a lot of letters may help them realize what they're doing.

Ditto, I think if enough of us wrote to them they'd start paying attention. I'm writing one right now. It's painful to watch something so potentially good go SO terribly wrong! This is a new low.

it's good to see arctic monkeys nd aj from soprOS MENTIONED ON THE COVER at least smthng

lindsays edit is very badly styled...looks very much like sienna's

GAWD!!! Lindsay is so needy for attention it makes me want to barf!!! :yuk: Those quotes on the pics prove my point. Seriously, if she wasn't so "look at me" all the time I might be able to stand her. I'm sure I posted a similar comment in another thread but this is a different cover so I'm allowed to gripe about her again.

I think people are over reacting , its jsut a magazine!! And magazines are catered to the general public , and they may not necessarily like people like Lily Cole or Gemma Ward on them cover. Honestlyy a lot of people in my school would prefer Lidnsay over Gemma , they jsut find her purely ugly. And also I dont think interviews have to be all deep , sometimes we need a star that tells it like it is ,"attention isnt always a bad thing" Lindsay is a human. An actress who acts way better than Hilary Duff imo , shes starting to get more serious acting jobs so leave her alone. And the women that you mentioned e.g Maggie.G I don't think she can really sell a magazine.(e.g therefore you dont see people like her on magazines a LOT) Tabloid fodder does sell. And to tel l you the truth ,people are SERIOUSLY overreacting about magazines , they are magazines for god sakes.. do you have to take it so seriouslyy?? Its lidnsay , jsut face it they put her on the cover because they figure it will sell , they don't care about status I mean look at Harpers Bazaar when Liz Tilberis was at it , it was considered so holy or soemthing amongst the fashion insiders but seriously it failed commercially against allure , vogue etc because vogue//allure were more mainstream and put celebrities on the covers.

Another thing , the ed is great , it looks cool. Most models cant sell covers. Ok exception of some models but high fashion models , the alien ones especially that are in demand right now , they jsut dont appeal at all to the general public. Even Kate Moss is considered ugly by some.

^ But that's exactly the point we're making...Nylon has, in the past, prided itself on catering to those on the fringe rather than the mainstream. Yes, I understand Lindsay may sell more magazines than a more obscure actress, but she completely undermines the principles under which the magazine has operated over the past 8 years. And perhaps we are taking it a bit seriously...but this is a fashion forum and everyone is free to rant as needed ;) If we can't share our opinions here (even if they're a little overzealous) than where else can we do it? :flower:

Those quotes are enough to make sure I don't read the article. So deep, Lindsay.

Like, so true! Seriously, like, really.

For anyone that's seen the content of this issue, is there anything redeeming inside?

I understand now what your talking about... I guess you guys can rant on all you like but I'm a bit bias when it comes to Lindsay , I have no idea why , I guess it was the parent trap... and I also understand people dont see her a fashion icon.. I can understand that too but I guess you guys have a reason to rant.. because nylon used to cater to those only interested fashion , now their getting more mainstream like almost every other magazine. I actually prefer seeing models on the cover but with Lindsay I'm bias

I don't think all interviews have to be deep and brooding, but on the other hand, no one wants to read an interview that has absolutely no depth whatsoever. And I think that, for the concern of the opinions of us TFSers, anyway, selling magazines isn't the main concern. It might be for MJS, but we just want to see girls that represent a different schtick than the kind that we might get with any other magazine that can be found on newsstands. I don't think that all of our displeasure is because of Lindsay, but rather that this is just sort of the straw that broke the camel's back. The list of covergirls that just don't suit Nylon have been building up for months now (Christina Aguilera, Avril Lavigne, etc) and I think that we've all just been sort of holding out, hoping that it will be better next issue, but this seems to be a sudden downward trend. It's totally fine if you like Lindsay, and I hope you don't feel like your opinion was disregarded here. :flower: It's good to see people presenting the issue from all sides.

Edit: This is basically a less eloquent repeat of what Static said!

To me, Nylon imformed me on the latest fashion and culture news, but it was also in some way an "art". The latest Nylon cover choices has nothing to do with art whatsoever. It's just commercialism. I don't expect (or want) Nylon to become some snobby unaccessbile magazine refusing to feature anything remotely mainstream. But I belive that in society, there are always those who are aesthetically elite and those who are not. This is quite a snobby view, but it's true. And if Nylon is to feature bland interviews by publicity seeking magastars, then it lowers itself down to the likes of CosmoGirl or Glamour. No, there is nothing wrong with those two magazines, but it's just that they have a different audience.

I really LOVE Nylon and hope that if us devotees write letters, they will come to their right senses and get the mag's image back on track. And if not, then I'll be happy for Nylon for becoming mainstream and earning more money (Nylon is now available in a lot of stores where i never used to see non-mainstream magazines). But I will just have to find another magazine to more worthy of spending time reading.

I always like her covers and i love her sarcastic side.

If you want my opinion i think thats a bit "too much" .. Writing to them just for a cover.. Hmm sorry but i dont really get it.. It's just a magazine nobody will force you to buy it, if you don't like her, then dont buy the mag, thats not a big deal. I think people cares too much when they see socialites/media wh*res in fashion mags. They use them just to attract younger readers who'll buy the magazine and then, will buy it every months because they'll think its cool only because their idole was in the cover one day.
Btw the only think i was deeply shocked to see was Paris Hilton in french VOGUE O_O. I understand when they use socialites who INSPIRE girls' street style but PARIS HILTON o_O. As far as i appreciate her, nobody dresses like her and shes an icon for NOBODY (right?)

It's not that people are upset because of this one magazine cover. It's just that after a repeated series of similarly untalented, mainstream, uninspiring and unoriginal covergirls... people are just sick of it. And, at least for me, Lindsay was kind of the culmination of it all, the breaking point. Nylon has always been more than the typical fashion magazine, they had different standards. I mean, I don't like what they're doing at US Vogue with their cover choices either, but I can accept it-- I don't expect much from them and they're catering to a whole different taste. But to me, Nylon has certain principles that US Vogue doesn't, like in being more critical of the mainstream and such. Like, I remember reading an article they had about Edie Sedgwick in which they dissed Factory Girl. Then recently, they put Sienna Miller on the cover and absolutely worshipped her and the film. It's such a contradiction.

Not to say they shouldn't occasionally have Britneys on their covers every once in a while, because they have in the past as well. But this is becoming too repetitive for me (I REALLY picked the worst time to subscribe). Anyway those are just my sentiments.

And the part about Paris Hilton not being a fashion icon to anyone... you'd be surprised :(

I skipped over the Lindsay article entirely, so the issue wasn't bad. I thought the other young Hollywood stars they covered were a hell of a lot more interesting and deserving of the attention. Before the article, it says you'll be hearing about them for "all the right reasons" - unfortunately, I don't think Lindsay has any so why are we hearing about her in Nylon? I'm glad people are continuing to write in complaints to the magazine, I can only hope they take it in and begin to put it into action. There are plenty of relatively well-known actresses and musicians that Nylon could put on the cover to sell without having to anger its loyal readers. It's when they put these publicity-obsessed starlets on the covers (that quote about Lindsay talking about the pap pictures = people caring about her says it all for me, honestly) when people start to get upset.

I dont know if anyone has seen the issue in person, but Lindsay looks positively rough in all the photos. She looks old and leathery. It looks great when you're just glancing through, but unfortunately she needed a little more retouching.

I often find her to look rough. She's going to look like Rachel Zoe soon.

Yes they are magazines, but I subscribed to Nylon because I thought they had a great mix of art, fashion, and culture. Ever since the Myspace issue, I realize that this isn't the same magazine I signed up for. I take it seriously because I paid for my subscription and I am disappointed in the results.

Neglecting the gossip and intrigue, I think Lindsay's beautiful. Paying too much attention to the gossip and intrigue, I still think she's damn cute. Now, if I had a television, I'd likely be as sick of her as all ya'll seem to be.

She's just someone I find I root for in her celebrity-hood. I'll likely pick this issue of Nylon up and flip through it.
