Overrated Movies

i think that there should be a thread about underrated movies, not overrated...
cos, many many movies r made, but only a few have some sort of point... or simply that they r not boring...

like many ppl haven't seen Velvet Goldmine, and that movie is like my top 3 movies of all time... music is great, actors r great and we get to see another side of the glam rock... plus, ewan mcgregor and JRM r singing all songs for real, which is a big plus for me... and for those who haven't seen it, well it is a story about glam rock, and how it died... u can recognize bowie's and iggy pop's influence... but it is not a movie for homophobics!!!:innocent:

:woot:   :flower:

i wholeheartedly agree! we're all missing romance itself, not just romantic movies.

a movie doesn't have to be romantic to make u feel that way... call me stupid or shallow, but everytime i watch nine and a half weeks, i cry...
i know it is cheap erotic drama, and all that, but the moment when adorable mickey says 'please come back till i count to 50'... well it rips my heart out... ... i even cried when i watched a weird comedy The Secretary with James Spader... It is kind of a sick movie, but it brings out emotions... u know like 'love lift us up where we belong...'

and Moulin Rouge... well...   ... although it is a simple, many times seen love story, it brings hope that there is a reason for living...

and it is simply LOVE...
oh i feel so romantic now...:crush:

^ moulin rouge is one of my faves...  you're right though. a thread for underrated movies will be interesting. there's a lot of 'em.

LOTR trilogy
Walk the Line
Brokeback Mountain
The Memoirs of a Geisha
Lost in Translation (though good)
Elephant
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (everything Depp does these days is over-rated crap, Burton seems to be losing his magic)
A Rebel Without A Cause
Hable Con Ella

... and many, many more.

Basically all the Hollywood films today which are said to be "new classics".

  we have the exact opposite taste in films because those are among my favourites.

Lord of the Rings, King Kong (the remake) - not a fan of Peter Jackson's work, I have to say.

Oh and anything that stars Tom Cruise, can't stand the man!

I can´t stand the man either but he´s done some pretty good things; Rain man, Jerry mcguire. I really don´t know what happened to him. He used to be very nice and likeable but somehow he´s manage to become a freak.

I'll probably change my mind after the second viewing but Donnie Darko confused the heck out of me

^ Yeah! Donnie Darko. I just can't appreciate that movie.

I can't stand pretty much all of the Mission: Impossible movies.

A Beautiful Mind, not even Paul Bettany could make up for all the things this movie lacks.

American Dreamz - I was told the only reason not to like the movie would be an inability to enjoy satire, but the only reason I could find not to like it was because it was just plain stupid. It tried way to hard to be witty and intelligent on politics.

Scarface hands down. Almost all of the guys I know wear shirts with Al Pacino's face on them like if he was their best-friend or something. It was a good movie but nothing spectacular. I think Michelle stole the show in a way.

lost in trasnlations(so boring), every tom cruise movie, mr. and mrs smith, the hours..

the hours
magnolia
garden state
star wars
the matrix
lotr
forrest gump
... to be continued
