Portishead

OMG.................I think I'm going to die from total excitement!

I'm not too keen on this new single, Machine Gun, but I've heard some of the other tracks and they seem to be pretty good. I've seen mixed responses on the interweb so far: some people proclaiming it the best album of the year so far, others saying it's horrible.

omg so didnt know that these were releasing a new album..i loved these as a kid i grew up with them .. reminds me off parents getting stoned and us lal just monging out listening to them .. then when i got older id do the same.. memories

i dunno, that repetitive, overwhelming drum machine gets a bit annoying after about 30 seconds. i hope the rest of the album is more bearable. and it kind of overshadows and makes her gorgeous as always voice sound a bit too minute.

When is the album expected to be released?

they have some other vids posted on youtube. it's the b&w which i assume is the official video.

Dummy is one of my fav albums but I'm also a fan of the new one. ^_^ Not all the songs are like Machine Gun, for those who are wondering. the album as a whole has a really unique sound. it's more experimental than I was expecting and has sort of a raw and unusual vibe about it

The first albums I got from my own money (I don't know, I was 12 or 13 years old)were from Muse and Portishead, haha. My mom was furious and asked why I blow money on that artists and not real music like Backstreet Boys

thom and ed from radiohead have just played a new portishead leaked song on bbc radio 2. guess you can listen to the show again....

Well guys, here it is, the (pretty dull) video for Machine Gun... that industrial and dirty sound song... love it.

Third is amazing...

Ohhh I didn't know we had a thread on Portishead! I'd heard about a leak a couple of weeks ago, so I went ahead and downloaded the few tracks that I could find (Limewire :innocent:). I just checked and the songs are all over the internet now, so I'll post a few.

Small

The Rip

Magic Doors

I don't know how I feel about this album yet... I think Dummy already topped it for me. It's definitely a new sound that we haven't yet heard from Portishead at least. I'll post the rest of the songs later when my computer decides to behave!

Third is amazing...
I agree! I have been listening to it all month and it grows on me more and more :crush: I like Machine Gun but there are many other songs which are better to me. It's got such a unique vibe on the album and it is unexpected (in a good way) as a whole.

Have been waiting to hear other Portishead fans' thoughts on it :flower:
