Not totally my style but I love this collection! She took a very rich, embellished Oriental look and made only the way Prada could. B)

I never thought I'd actually say this, but it's a strong collection. Seems like she paid a lot of attention to fabric quality, which she pretty often doesn't (at least not for the stuff you see in stores).

Having never been a Prada fan or actually liked Prada itself, it almost pains me to say,I actually liked some of this. There does seem to be alot attention to fabric quality and textile. And I agree as well, there's more along the lines of 'influences' rather than literal rehashing unlike the past. It almost kind of reminds me of a Dries Van Noten collection.

As much as I love this show, I have to say that the shoes were a little . I didn't like them at all. First of all, square toes should never be imposed on any woman. They are so ugly it hurts. And that torturous curved heel is just plain unattractive. Miuccia is obviously trying to take something conventionally ugly and elevate it but it doesn't work with these shoes.

Prada's victory parade
By Suzy Menkes (IHT)

MILAN: With "Peter and the Wolf" on the soundtrack and a collection of heroic elegance, Miuccia Prada once again changed the register of fashion. Her lush romance, cheered to the echo, was a great cultural sweep that took in Hussar's hats, long lean military coats touched with crystal snowflakes, shoes with magic mushroom heels and prints of ruins blurred into beauty by the computer.

The mix of historical drama, military strictness with a touch of mannish brutality in tailored suits with flat shoes made a show that lived up to the words "Victory parade," interspersed with howling wolves, in the music mix.

It was a moment of fashion emotion in its soaring romance its perfection of detail: buttonholes trimmed with velvet, crystal elbow patches and fur trims cuddling cuffs. Yet it created this romanticism without a frill or a ruffle and the way the coats were worn, open over patterned skirts, occasionally with a flash of flesh at the hips, had a subtle sensuality. Prada, who had been inspired by the paintings of the German artist Caspar David Friedrich'and by the superhero video games, had excelled herself in the mix of high culture and modernity. From the swagger of a velvet or brocade coat through the sexual slyness of a sheer dress printed with a fainted skeletal pattern, this was an excepetional show that seemed almost like a battle cry for the culture of "old Europe."

I love this collection, the colours are gorgeous, the mix of more muted colours and some brighter pieces works really well. I love how she puts the clothes together in such an original way and the mix of influences was very inspiring.

Miuccia is such a powerhouse. It just never stops. Another stunning, achingly beautiful collection. I see many Far East touches but there are elements which seem very Russian as well. A great mix for an incredible collection.

The robot sweaters and keychains are so fun! And I love that Prada shows of the past two years contain so many clever styling tricks. She's not just selling her own line but showing people new ways to wear the clothes they already have. So clever!
Yes! Yes! what s/he said!

instead of a direct 50's look, this is so rich in influences that arent tired.
Yes yes yes! I'm so tired of this 50's trend all over the place. Miuccia, on the other hand, left the direct referencing for the amateurs (Marc Jacobs comes to mind) and instead took the idea in a totally new direction. I love this mix! [/b][/quote]
yes deffinetly!

and i LOVE that she mixed in sum sort of futristic things

GOD BLESS MRS. PRADA!!!

I love this collection. It transitions from the beauty of this Spring's collection with new influences to "freshen" things up. I like the palette and the prints. Her styling, as always is influential in the marketplace. Did anybody else notice the amount of belts tied around cardigans and jackets on this season's runways that she did in both the Prada and Miu Miu collections this past Fall. I think her use of vintage-y jewelry gives the collection a very finished appearance as well. Now, if I could just figure out what the robot was doing there.....
Can't wait to see what little sister Miu Miu is up to this season.

i'll bet it's even better...last fall i liked miu miu better.

i agree that the styling was top notch. very impressive

Loved the painted feel of the fabrics, felt more influenced by art than that of whoever it was who said as much about Klimt in London.

I must admit, when I saw Marc Jacob's fall collection, I totally thought that Prada would spit out with something very similar. And then she comes out with THIS...completely different from anything I would've imagined. and SO BEAUTIFUL

Maybe the close friends of Miuccia is telling her to ditch the commerical nonsense and start expressing 'herself' a bit more. Everyone says that she does already but I never bought into it but this collection feels like she has either taken some sweet advice or follwed her own soul for real. Good job to her!

And yeah,the styling is superb.

Doubtless one of the most original creators of her time.
Prada hung on funny small robots on her magnificent bags crocos, lovely, I like this show. :P
