Prada S/S 08 Milan

A nice try!
so different from the usual Prada

but I think it is creative but sadly not impressive!

Omg its hideous.....as usual. Its so baggy and homeless looking.......as usual. I feel depressed, bored and disappointed when I look at these clothes......as usual.

HIGHLY underwhelmed, im so dissapointed...my favorite thing was the makeup...

After I looked at it again more carefully, I'm kind of ashamed to admit that there's more that I like than I originally thought.

Most of it I don't like, those checked pieces, knits and gold stuff were all a big no for me. But some of those nymph-printed organdy dresses with fluttered hems in ecru or (most beautifully) greyish-plum really would look cute sans mismatched stockings.

I'm not a print person by any stretch, but those illustration pieces really do have some kind of built in x-factor, for me anyway.

It's unfortunate that the seemingly deliberate kookiness or ugliness had to get in the way on first impression.

That has to be the quickest a Prada collection has ever taken to grow on me.

Y'know someone brought up the fact that most people don't appreciate designers humor in another thread. I think this is exactly what they were talking about. Of course at first glance this line is pretty, well... out there. It's crazy and it's nothing like we have seen this past week. It's understandable why someone wouldn't like this line. I get it. But the reason I like this is because is so hilarious, so funny, and so entertaining. Yet and because of the humor I would love to own some of these pieces. For example those shoes? LOL-lovable. And those outfits? Absolutely hilariously crazy. I think this line is more suited for editorials though because it is so "visual." I think the reason why I get Miuccia's sense of humor is because we are the same kind of crazy.

I think the bags will be the most successful thing to come out of this line to be honest. I mean I love the rest of it, but it's obvious I'm the only one. :ninja:
if you're trying to compare this to what i said about moschino...that's a whole different story

and i really don't wanna get into that right now, it's 3am :stuart:

minus the afwul 70s pieces I'm really into it. Tyrolian, fantasy, some fantastic shoes..

Oh wait was that you? I had no idea what thread or who had said it I just skimmed over it really.

Like I said, I can understand why somebody wouldn't like this line, but the reason why I like it is because I think it's so funny!

Khalilg bu your analysis over Miuccia's "humour" I take it u like other designers like Heatherette whose clothes are much more crazy.

I admit I used to love them because I thought they were funny too. But now it's getting a little tired. Maybe I just have a lot of love for Prada and that's why I'm letting hew get away with it? ^_^

The prints, cut, hair and make-up is gorgeous. I love the whole atmosphere of this collection.

it really reminds of a 70s working girl , who started dropping way too much acid and listening to ziggy stardust and reading the secret garden , pretending she is ziggy lol. Its weird , but the shapes will be copied like hell. Those cut out 40s style dresses , the two tone dresses , those bell bots , I like this better than marc jacobs , that just looked like tattered clothes , this is still quite put together. She continued from her S/S 2006 , forget F/W 2006 that was sheer fugliness.

There is an oriental influence , with necklines and flared trousers

I want to love it... it is PRADA, but not sure about it... I like those colorful bags...

Quite a bit of it seems very college level design...you know, that whole, trying to be really conceptual and futuristic and different when in reality it's just ugly, craft project looking and pretentious...

Other pieces I like, but I'm just not sold on it yet. Maybe in a while it will grow on me (much like Prada collections seem to do with most people).

I agree with you in "ugly" part..

the part you say it will grow on you is quite obvious... celeb endorsement , and tons of advertisiment .. you will see it so much that you will like it... like Rihanna and the umbrella song.

It is so BOLD now that i have seen the whole collection. I am sure it will catch on but only probably if you don't wear the whole look at once: tights shoes nad clothes nad bag is a bit of an assault upon the senses: great on the runway for the shock value but in the street it may be best in bits
