By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 12:25 AM on 5th February 2011 The Channel 4 series Big Fat Gypsy Weddings has become a surprise hit, pulling in eight million viewers a week.
The highlights of the show are the over-the-top dresses worn by gypsy brides, featuring everything from neon lights to mechanical butterflies and yards of pink tulle.
So with the upcoming Royal Wedding — and Kate Middleton refusing to say who will design her wedding gown — the Mail offers her a little light-hearted inspiration.

I've finally done it!: All those years spent as 'Waity Katie' have paid off - and Wills absolutely loved the dress. He said I looked good enough to eat. Well I think that's what he meant when he said I looked like a giant pink meringue. But even a girl who wants to celebrate has to have time out - for a craft smoke before facing the Archbishop and the 3,000-strong congregation

Duchess of Cornwall gives first public hint that she may one day be Queen
The Duchess of Cornwall has said for the first time publicly there is a chance she could one day become Queen.

When asked the direct question by an inquisitive eight year-old, during a visit to a children’s centre in Chippenham, Wiltshire, Camilla replied: “You never know.”

Officially it has always been claimed the Duchess will be known as Princess Consort when her husband, the Prince of Wales becomes king.

But her aside will be seized upon as further evidence of a possible change in position, following comments made by the Prince recently when he also indicated his wife could one day become Queen Camilla.

In an interview with the US television channel NBC in November the Prince was asked if the Duchess would one day become Queen.

He appeared taken aback and uncomfortable with the question but responded: “That’s well..we’ll see, won’t we? That could be.”

The Duchess’s remarks came as she met staff, families and children at King’s Rise Children’s Centre which provides social care and support for families in Wiltshire.

Wearing a long navy blue coat and back boots, she was greeted by 130 youngsters, waving flags and singing Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.

As she spoke to the children, an eight-year-old Charter Primary School pupil named Rebecca asked: “Are you going to be Queen one day?”
Looking a little shocked she replied: “You never know.”

The title by which the Duchess will be known when her husband becomes King has been a thorny issue since the couple were married in 2005.

The proposed title of Princess Consort was seen as a way minimising any potential controversy.

Initially it was feared that the Duchess would not be accepted as Queen, especially among those who were still finding it hard to accept the death of Diana Princess of Wales.

But the Prince is believed to have always felt privately that his wife should become Queen when he takes the throne.

Also the position among many of those initially opposed is thought to have softened over the past five years due to the Duchess’s increasing popularity with the public.

Earlier in the day the Duchess was forced to battle the windy conditions when her umbrella was almost whipped out of her hands by a sudden gust.
Helped by two members of her security detail she was able to laugh off the incident and proceed with her tour of Wiltshire’s Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers.

Leaning in close to each other across the lunch table, the two women were deep in conversation.
Then the word ‘advice’ rang out across the busy restaurant.
The listener was Kate Middleton and the woman offering words of wisdom was none other than the former Mrs Camilla Parker Bowles.

Future Queens: Kate Middleton and Camilla together. Kate, in a Diane Von Furstenberg dress, is mastering the art of simple chic - her style is already being copied all over the world with shoppers clamouring to get their hands on copycat dresses
This was the extraordinary scene yesterday as Prince William’s fiancée went for lunch with the woman who will soon be her stepmother-in law, the Duchess of Cornwall, for a primer on marrying into the Royal Family.
Camilla, of course, knows all about advising princesses in waiting. Thirty years ago she sat down with a teenage Lady Diana Spencer in the run-up to her marriage to the Prince of Wales.

These days Camilla is part of the family and a vital sounding board for 29-year-old Kate as she counts down the days to her own wedding at Westminster Abbey in April.
And it was the wedding that was very much on their minds as they were joined by Kate’s sister Pippa and Camilla’s daughter Laura Lopez in Koffman’s, the new restaurant at the Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge, opened last year by three Michelin-starred chef Pierre Koffman.

Me and my shadow: Kate and her police protection officer, left. Camilla and Kate's security sat at an adjacent table while the ladies talked about the much anticipated wedding before emerging together, right
That they chose to meet in such a high-profile venue in one of London’s top hotels - in clear view of other diners - was intriguing when they could have dined discreetly at Clarence House or any other royal address.
Princess Diana’s sapphire and diamond engagement ring sparkled on Kate’s finger as excited chatter about the wedding filled the air.
A fellow diner, sitting just two tables away, tells me: ‘All four women were talking away like mad and none of the waiters could get a word in edgeways to serve their lunch. Kate looked fantastic in a very short black skirt, black opaque tights, a short jacket and boots.
‘I heard Camilla saying... “if I can give you one bit of advice...” Kate was really enjoying the moment.
‘I did hear talk of trumpets and someone said “we can’t have trumpets, the ceiling is too high’’, which may have been a reference to Westminster Abbey.’
The duchess, in a purple tweed suit and with a glass of red wine in hand, was in charge during the three-hour lunch.
In fact, I understand that Camilla, who has dined at Koffman’s before, made the reservation.

Effortless glamour: Kate is mastering the art of simple chic. Her style is already being copied all over the world with shoppers clamouring to get their hands on copycat dresses
Her food writer son, Tom Parker Bowles, is a friend of the master chef.
‘They were all getting on very well and they clearly hadn’t asked for an out-of-the-way table and nor did they attempt to lower their voices,’ the diner said.
‘It was high spirits all round. Kate and Pippa were sitting on banquettes with their backs to the wall opposite Camilla and Laura.
‘There was one moment which was clearly meant to be amusing when Kate said “what happens if William doesn’t turn up?’’ Someone else then asked “is it going to be a sit-down lunch?’’
‘They followed that with talk of menus. I heard chipolatas, sausages on sticks and mini pizzas, but I don’t know whether it was ironic or not.’
The lunch party was completed by Kate and Camilla’s police protection officers.
The two gun-carrying women bodyguards sat at an adjoining table as the four women gossiped away.
Kate and William are still fine-tuning the wedding guest list.
More than 1,800 invitations are due to be sent out later this month.

PRINCE William and Kate Middleton may have resisted the lure of the wedding gift registry - with 1900 guests expected on April 29, just how many toasters do a young couple need? - but that has not stopped a flood of wedding presents arriving at St James's Palace.

Many have been accepted with gratitude. However, scores of presents, from expensive handbags to designer dresses, have already been returned by the couple with a polite note of thanks.

Among those who have had gifts returned are royal warrant holders, as well as some of London's most expensive and exclusive shops in Bond Street, Kensington and St James's.

"They are being offered as generous tokens of goodwill," said a royal source. "But the couple have a policy of not accepting gifts from commercial organisations for the royal wedding. Prince William and Miss Middleton are genuinely incredibly touched and grateful but they just cannot accept them."

The couple owe their approach to William and Harry's longstanding custom of strictly interpreting the rules governing royal gifts. Some members of the royal family do accept gifts from warrant holders, but as the princes do not have any warrants they adhere to a blanket ban on gifts from commercial sources.

"They don't want to have a sense of obligation," the palace official said. "If they wear something it might imply an endorsement."

Gifts from members of the public include soft toys, souvenir shop trinkets and even cheques; these are not being sent back. "They are quite sweet small things," the source said.

"The couple won't turn anything away. If a gift is not going to be personally used then it is stored somewhere appropriate. If it is perishable, they either use it or share it with someone appropriate. Occasionally they might donate some of their gifts to charity."

When Martin Adams, the England darts captain, successfully defended his world title he promised to give William and Kate his match darts. "These darts completed a hat-trick at the World Masters and clocked up my third world title, so they are special to me and deserve to go to a special couple," he said.

When Prince Charles nd Lady Diana Spencer married in 1981, they received more than 6000 gifts, including a piece of crocheted lace made from yarn spun by Mahatma Gandhi, a solid gold model of an Arab dhow and a silver-plated mousetrap.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh received more than 2500 wedding gifts in 1947, including a racehorse from the Aga Khan. Gifts from the public included a hand-knitted cardigan and bedsocks.

Official bodies and overseas governments have been in touch about gifts. While some will give presents no matter what, the royal couple are keen to encourage charity donations and are drawing up a list of good causes.

William's charity interests are well known - his patronages include organisations for the homeless, wildlife and the Armed Forces. According to palace aides, Miss Middleton is likely to favour charities relating to sport and the arts, including those that encourage access for the young and the elderly.

She will not be rushing to accept charity patronages. Aides are keen to ensure that she is well prepared before embarking on her new life as a member of the royal family. She has been receiving advice from Sir David Manning, the former diplomat and foreign policy aide to Tony Blair, who is an adviser to William and Harry.

Announcement: Prince William has asked his brother Harry to be his best man while Kate's sister Philippa will be maid of honour

Prince William broke with tradition today and asked his brother, Prince Harry, to be his 'best man' - rather than 'supporter'.
Kate Middleton has asked her sister Philippa to be her maid of honour it was revealed on the British Monarchy Facebook page today.
As tradition dictates, Prince Harry will now be responsible for organising William's stag party.

But the marrying Prince has dispensed with the the usual rule that male members of the Royal family don't have a 'best man' but a supporter when they tie the knot.
It is thought to be the first time the 'supporter' has been appointed.

The Prince of Wales chose his brother Prince Andrew to be his supporter when he married Diana at St Paul's Cathedral in 1981.
When a non-Royal is marrying a Princess, it is usual for a best man to be appointed.
It was also revealed today that William and Kate will have four bridesmaids and two page boys on their big day on April 29.

The wedding details were announced on the same day that it emerged that the couple would be paying an official visit together later this month to the university where they met.

Prince William is also to take on the role of patron of St Andrews University's 600th Anniversary appeal.

The couple will return there on Friday February 25.

The day before the couple will attend a naming ceremony and service of dedication of the Hereford Endeavour lifeboat at Trearddur Bay Lifeboat Station on Anglesey, where RAF rescue helicopter pilot William is based.
The official visits are not the first the couple have made since their wedding announcement.

Miss Catherine Middleton has asked her sister, Miss Philippa Middleton, to be her Maid of Honour.

Prince William and Miss Middleton have chosen the following Bridesmaids and Page Boys:
The Lady Louise Windsor (aged seven – daughter of The Earl and Countess of Wessex)

Louise is the eldest child of Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, Prince Charles' brother, and his wife Sophie.

She is the youngest granddaughter and second-youngest grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh, and 9th in line to the throne.

In the past Prince Edward and Sophie have been reluctant to allow Lady Louise to be photographed because she was born with exotropia, a rare condition which causes a divergent squint.
The Hon. Margarita Armstrong-Jones (aged eight – daughter of Viscount and Viscountess Linley)

Margarita is the is the only daughter of Viscount and Viscountess Linley. She was born three months after the death of her grandmother, Princess Margaret, the Queen's younger sister, and a month and a half after the death of her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.

In September 2006, Margarita made headlines after she was photographed sitting on the luggage rack of her father's bicycle in rush hour traffic, provoking complaints from advocates of traffic safety.
Miss Grace van Cutsem (aged three – daughter of Mr and Mrs Hugh van Cutsem)

Grace, the daughter of Hugh Van Cutsem and Rose Van Cutsem (nee Atsor) is William’s goddaughter.

Both William and Kate attended her parents' wedding in 2005 in Oxfordshire.

Prince Charles refused to attend the wedding of Hugh's elder brother Edward to the Duke of Westminster's daughter, Lady Tamara Grosvenor, in November 2004, after learning Camilla was to be seated some rows behind him.

Edward Van Cutsem was a pageboy at Prince Charles and Lady Diana's wedding.
Miss Eliza Lopes (aged three – daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Lopes)

The eldest daughter of Laura Lopez (nee Parker Bowles) and Camilla’s granddaughter.

Laura married Harry Marcus George Lopes, the son of the Hon. George Edward Lopes, formerly an underwear model for Calvin Klein and now a chartered accountant.

Kate attended their wedding in 2006.

Tiggy helped comfort the princes after their mother's death in 1997 and retired from the Prince of Wales's service when she married in October 1999.

Details about the Bridesmaids’ dresses and the Page Boys’ uniforms will be made available on the Wedding Day. The wedding will take place on April 29.

William and Kate to return to the university where they first met

University: Prince William talks to his father at St Andrews on his graduation day. He received a 2:1

Prince William and Kate Middleton will return to the university where they met next week to kick off its 600th anniversary celebrations.
The couple, who will marry in April, are making the visit to the University of St Andrews in Fife as the institution prepares to mark its forthcoming birthday.
It will be a trip down memory lane for William and Kate, who studied history of art together and shared a house in the town.
Prince William has been appointed patron of the university's fundraising appeal. The pair will launch the three-year anniversary celebrations, which run to 2013.
The university's principal and vice-chancellor Professor Louise Richardson said: 'We hope that Prince William and Miss Middleton are the first among many who will reconnect with St Andrews and join in the celebrations.'
William graduated in 2005 with a 2:1 honours degree in geography after switching subjects, while Kate achieved the same award in history of art.
Teachers there say the close-knit community helped the couple keep their romance a secret.
Former lecturer Professor Peter Humfrey, who was head of art history when they were students, also praised Miss Middleton's discretion.
He said: 'I think it's to her credit that she very deliberately kept a low profile about this.
'The fact that they managed to have a relationship together in, I don't know, their last year, maybe last two years, without many people knowing about it - certainly not me - does reflect the rather close-knit community of St Andrews.
'I think within the school of art history we're very pleased for them.'
article-1356839-02C7F5B10000044D-422_306x423.jpg
Graduation: Kate Middleton received her degree certificate in the same ceremony as the Prince

In their first year, William and Kate lived a few doors apart at St Salvator's hall of residence and became friendly, socialising together and playing tennis.
They began sharing an elegant four-bedroom Edwardian townhouse with two friends at the start of their second year.
At the time Miss Middleton was dating another student, Rupert Finch.
By the following year, the four moved into a secluded rented cottage outside the town.
It is not known exactly when William and Kate became an item but it is rumoured to be around Christmas 2003.
St Andrews has gained a reputation as one of Britain's top match-making universities, with students there having about a one in 10 chance of meeting their partner and getting wed.
Professor Brendan Cassidy, the current head of art history, said the secluded nature of the town and its lack of clubs and bars meant students organised their own informal get-togethers and so formed closer bonds.
He said: 'Students are thrown together in ways that are unusual, I think, so they have to make their own entertainment.
'And I think that probably brings people together in a much closer way than were they to be living in Edinburgh, Glasgow or London.
'So although art history can probably take a little credit because they were doing the same subject, I think ultimately it was really St Andrews and the kind of student experience they have here, which is lovely.'

Founded in the 15th century, St Andrews is the third oldest university in the English-speaking world.

Teaching began in 1410 and the university was formally constituted by a series of papal bulls issued by Pope Benedict XIII in 1413.

Canada is royal couple's first trip
(UKPA) – 4 hours ago
Prince William and Kate Middleton will be travelling to Canada this summer on their first official trip as a married couple, a Canadian official has said.
The official, who spoke anonymously, said the newlyweds would travel across the Commonwealth country from the end of June to mid-July.
William and Kate, who will marry on April 29, will take part in Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa on July 1 and their stay will also include a trip to the Arctic, the official said.
Prime minister Stephen Harper invited the couple to Canada after they announced their engagement last November.
Canada is also issuing stamps in their honour.
Though Canadians are somewhat indifferent to the monarchy, most have great affection for the Queen, whose silhouette marks their coins.
The Queen visited Canada last July and pronounced it "good to be home" as she embarked on her 22nd official visit to the country.
She also visited Ottawa for the country's birthday.

I was thinking the same thing. Why is she smiling while signing a book of condolence because many people have died in an horrific natural disaster?

Hey, she's having the time of her life right now. I think she's really liking the attention and she isn't getting her head around that this is an actual job. She probably thinks it's all just "smile for the cameras and wear nice clothes" kind of thing. She'll learn quick after her first bad review. I'm sure if the Queens sees something she doesn't like she will have a talk with Kate.

it was a bit weird that most/all of the pics have her grinning. But I'm sure she was just responding to the people around her??
