I saw nothing really wrong in that video ...

I'm sure she is used to have the smile pasted on for the paps ... she just needs a little lesson in expression nuance. Maybe Michelle Obama has a few minutes to coach her  Michelle always looks suitably somber when the occasion calls for it.

Shouldn't she already know what the occasion is about and prepare for it. I mean I wouldn't go to someone's funeral or wake and start smiling like a cheshire cat. It's just not appropriate. No one needs to take lessons in proper human etiquette.

Having they been preparing her for this for a while now? I kept reading about how she was taking "Princess lessons" or something before the engagement?

I believe she got an A.

^ Ouch. I thought royals weren't supposed to look overly emotional about anything? Stiff upper lip and all that.

I think that went out the door with Princess Diana. All future royals won't be expected to act the same way QEII or he father did. It is the future after all! And I sure hope the British people would actually want their Queen to have some sort of feeling...because if you can't, then how can you relate?

Plus, it wasn't like Kate didn't exert her "stiff upper lip." She was smiling and laughing at a condolence signing. That's the exact opposite, I think she should have acted a little less...happy...:ninja:

That's what I mean though, she shouldn't have walked in smiling, just as she shouldn't walk in crying.
It must be difficult for her though, she's torn between the media image of being a 'normal' girl, i.e. not an aristocrat, but then she has to act like a princess whenever she walks outside.

For those who can't get enough of next month's royal wedding, Clarence House has launched a website, Twitter and Flickr accounts and links to the royal channel on YouTube.

It has to be said that www.officialroyalwedding2011.org is not yet amazingly gripping: it features a picture of daffodils in Green Park, which happens to be adjacent to the wedding processional route, though presumably the flowers will be over by 29 April. All the same, it is a significant move into the 21st century for the royal household.

Viewers will undoubtedly find the virtual tour of Buckingham Palace (775 rooms and 78 bathrooms) useful. Royal watchers will also be able to keep up with the Twitter feed @Clarence House, or the British Monarchy Facebook page.

The website, described as the official service for anyone interested in the wedding, will be regularly updated with "exclusive" content, including photo galleries of the couple – the latest are of their public engagements at Anglesey and St Andrews University – and links to important information.

It may also provide a live webstream of the wedding itself. Only eight weeks and two days to go … and counting.

I see your point of view, yes it must be hard but she has coaching now so I don't know why she's misstepping. Hopefully she will get it right next time because there will come a time when the press won't be very nice to her anymore. She is brand new so they want to praise her but they'll turn just as soon.

^ Oh my word, that's horrible. I think I prefer the plates saying "Thanks for the free day off"...

Oh no! Not another horrible coin....They really need to just stop. Neither one of them looks good in this coin.

It's got to be deliberate. A ploy by Charles to make his son look less kingly?

Blech. She looks about 90 and he looks like he's thinking, "Braaaaaaiiins."

If I were William, I would be longing for the days when royalty could scream, "Off with their heads!"

I hope there won't be a repeat of what Camilla did after her wedding :(

Independent Political Poll 30 November 2010

A majority of people say they are “not excited” about the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton and want the Royal Family to modernise, according to a ComRes survey for The Independent.

Some 31 per cent say they “couldn’t care less” about the Royal Wedding and a further 28 per cent describe themselves as “largely indifferent.” The same proportion (28 per cent) are “fairly excited” but only 11 per cent are “very excited.” While 50 per cent of women are fairly or very excited, only 29 per cent of men are.

Some 57 per cent believe the Royal Family needs to modernise more quickly, while 36 per cent do not.

The poll found that one in three people (32 per cent) thinks Britain would not be any worse off as a republic, although 57 per cent disagree with this statement.

Three out of four people (76 per cent) are proud that the UK is a monarchy, while 19 per cent are not. A similar proportion (74 per cent) believe the monarchy has more positive aspects than negative, while 20 per cent disagree.

ComRes telephoned a random sample of 1,006 GB adults between November 26-29, 2010. Data were weighted to be representative of all adults and by past vote. ComRes is a member of the British Polling Council and abides by its rules.

I did not foresee McQueen for her dress at all, especially because of the whole Alexander 'sewing a very rude word into Prince Charles' suit when he worked on Saville Row' incident and of course because the design was only quite recently taken over by Sarah after Alexander's suicide, so it's a bit of an uncertain brand right now and perhaps on the edge of new horizons or a decline, who knows...

That said, I think it's an excellent choice if it's true; very fashion forward for someone as boring and conservative in their dress sense as Kate.
