From what I've seen of this show, I am enjoying it and I actually think its the more forward thinking reality show on television. From a television production perspective, its got higher quality shooting and editing..
I think some people wonder why youve got experienced designers competing alongside fashion novices, recent grads, self-taughts, and those who are fooling themselves about their style talent. I think -- yes it is an uneven playing field -- but thats what the real world design industry is anyway. New designers try to garner a consumer base...the established designers have to stay on their toes. Therefore the contest is realistic, and fair.
As for the last episode, I missed the first half hour -- I'll catch it on Sunday's Marathon...But having seen the dresses, I gotta say that Austin failed -- that ugly dress -- They should have kicked him out of there so hard his little neurotic butt would go flying. I am sorry but Austin is a costume designer, not fashion.
Nora had been showing a lot of talent, but she should have been kicked out on the last episode. She was given another chance and she produced that common looking dress...a la Davids Bridal...and again showed her immaturity as a designer...immaturity as a person was her problem last week.
Wendy is a grotesque creature. She knows how to sew frocks. She should stick to that, because I am not seeing an eye for design. Not to mention she has all that negativity, she's conniving, and that just shows people who have it do it, people who dont have it try to get ahead by pulling other people down.
Alexandras dress was special. that is her design style. She'll be really good if she can develop her concepts in more directions...
Kara is good, period. She's a proven talent, and she always makes her dresses work...the fit, and detail always work.
Robert is good but really inconsistent. Jay is wacko but talented and skilled. Kevin is strange. He makes me uncomfortable, like he cant be trusted. Plus his front teeth are weird ( sorry thats mean and superficial of me).
And I still think Vanessa should still be there...yes she shouldnt have outed her lack of sewing skills, Ijust think she was trying to be honest and she didnt want to sell anyone else out. A cruel lesson she learned, shut the mouth.
