Style.com's Top Ten S/S 10 collections

isn't it a bit sad how they arbitrarily decide what's going to be archived as a representation of a season?. now we can all say 'that's so off-base' but truth is, they'll persistently shove these collections down our throats for an entire season that when the season ends and one or two years go by, you'll remember S/S 10 as the season of Balenciaga's gray look and other vagueness.:doh:
my random thought of the afternoon. :meow:

The stark nature of Philo's collection for Celine was oddly refreshing but even then, it is not 'top ten' quality; it's just a good, solid collection - nothing more, nothing less. Givenchy was good as well but Tisci is becoming alarmingly formulaic in terms of aesthetic. I hope he grows out of it in time for next season. None of these collections are really worthy of top ten treatment, imo. Though as whole, this has been one of the most lackluster seasons in quite some time.

okay people go on talking about the 'ranking' everytime these are posted.
it's in alphabetical order...

glad phoebe made it onto the list.

no jil sander WTF ??? Balmain LOOOOL . Only Lanvin ,Celine ,Chanel are fine but other 7 are very questionable

I think Jil Sander should have made the list. What the hell is with Versace and Chanel? Both awful and tacky collections.

I would really have liked to see calvin on the list! That was a great collection in my opinion...

but like adorefaith said the list is quite meaningless..:ninja:

and i guess with balmain's popularity having rocketed they had to put them on the list at some point... just a shame they didn't do it back in 2007 when they actually had top ten worthy collections...

I think this list actually about what women will wear in during the spring time, and McQueen's collection was great, but I hardly doubt the everyday girl will wear it.

But.... Balmain and Marc Jacobs needs to get out of that list, they've been there forever!

I'm glad Celine is there, finally getting alot of notoriety.

well it is as we all know very biaised!
fashion is like politics so everyone thinks of their own interest in the end even style.com/vogue us, uk,/ etc

some of them are not even that good. where is alexander mcqueen? i dont like balenciaga either.. and what the heck with marc jacob and rodarte? O_O well, that just me..

^ Rodarte was heavily mentioned by buyers, so they must be doing something right ...

I agree with Chanel, definitely think it deserves its spot.

Rodarte, I think they shouldn't be in this list, It was the same of their old collections  And maybe I'm the only one here, But I think is not fair that Miu Miu isn't here

Shocked that McQueen isn't on the list, not shocked but unpleasantly unsurprised to see Balmain there.

Utterly useless...It's just advertising really. Balmain???? It was a like a midnight train to the whorehouse express

Are they crazy or what?
Where's Alexander McQueen, and why is Balmain 2nd?

What a crazy world ....

But does that really matter? The same could be said for Lanvin ... some people can design a top collection with one hand tied behind their backs.

Does Balmain really advertise? I'm not sure I've ever seen a Balmain ad ... Lanvin runs a few high-impact ads, Balenciaga a few ... I don't think one can say this is about ads. But a big name clearly helps ...
