Thakoon for Target

^Didn't he do some sort of white shirt collaboration with GAP?

this is weird. it looks like thakoon's collection will be in stores for quite a long time. i guess they are banking on him!! (blurb from wwd)

THAKOON’S NEXT: Designing for Hogan in addition to his own collection clearly isn’t enough for Thakoon Panichgul. Target said Wednesday that he will be the next Go International designer. His collection will launch in late September and run through January, and be available at most Target stores and target.com.

hm, that is strange...
i wonder if it will be one line, or there's a fall/winter collection and a holiday collection...

any more word on this...?

late september is right around the corner...

i think there was a typo in the wwd story. i think the collection will be out in the beginning of december.

the collection will be shown probably at the teen vogue event in NYC on october 24th. i think we'll see promo pics before then though.

How exciting.

I just hope that he does not get lazy and produce super cheaply manufactured designs just because it is Target.

Panichgul seems to have found a winning formula. His collection, priced from $400 to $5,000, sells at Tracey Ross, Neiman Marcus and Barneys New York in L.A. In addition to designing shoes for Italian leather goods brand Hogan, on Dec. 28 he'll debut a limited-edition collection for Target.

"They really let you do what you do. They want individuality from designers," he says of Target. "And when I go home to Omaha and talk to people who are not in fashion, they always ask when I'm going to do Target. They see that as making it."

thanks for the update lucy!

something to look forward to after christmas.. if i have any money that is :p

i am huge fan of thakoon and be interested to see how this collection with mesh with target.

one sentence about in wwd this morning...

Target has tapped Thakoon Panichgul to design a sportswear collection that breaks Christmas Day. “They were very easy to work with,” Panichgul said Saturday in Dallas. “They wanted a lot of prints, and I chose silhouettes that have done well in the past.”

we should be getting some pics in a week or so as there will be a small fashion show for teen vogue...

i'm loving the print coat, but i'm sure the quality will kill it irl.

the new issue of lucky magazine with keri russell on the cover shows a blue and white batik print t shirt for 17$. i like it.

the prints are nice but this looks like stuff they already have at target.
