The Business of Magazines

Im confused, how will Conde Nast Russia… be implicated or be in danger of spreading “false news” about the military.

I get the concern and the terrors of that new law, but shutting down fashion magazines because of a law for false news? What false news… that Dolce & Gabbana is still in?

What makes it more confusing is that Elle Russia and HB Russia seems unaffected by it?

I think is because other CN titles around the world publicly condemned Russia’s actions.

But doesn’t that apply to Elle and Bazaar as well? I just don’t get the brash solution.

I get the concern, but the solution…. That’s a lot of jobs gone in an instant

Russophobia has reached absurb, and unhinged levels in the west.
Fashion magazines, fast food resturants, clothing stores, etc, are not arms of the Russian government, or Putin's war in Ukraine.
Destroying Russia, and the Russian people, will not end well for anyone, including the west.
The Russian people are not responsible for the actions of their government, any more than Americans are responsible for the endless wars, and invasions done in our name, around the world.
I don't recall us being barred from the world community, when we invaded Afghanistan, and systematically destroyed it for 20 years, or Iraq, Libya, Syria....
The countless dictators we propped up, and continue to prop up. And let's be real, when all of this is over, every business that pulled out of Russia, for social media clout, will be clamoring to get right back in.

Exactly....also they don't want to be portrayed as investors....and as @JPineapple said, other Vogue's and CN titles showed their support to Ukraine....

In these times everything also i made, just to make a point so the bigger the better.

If in fact Russia is becoming North Korea is very unlikely that CN or the other Americans and European companies come back

They do it due to from PR and also the supply chain has been interrupted. In a few months they would have to close anyway, because there would be a problem with some of the goods.

Russia’s federal govt cabinet has signed off on legislation that would allow the state to seize organizations that are 25%+owned by foreign entities from sanctioning countries. So they could potentially seize CN or Hearst's property in Russia. If you speak Russian you can read it here

Velvet, it is more simple: there are some issues with elections and no other options other than his puppets

Hearst Magazines Cuts Ties With Russia
In a memo to staffers, Hearst Magazines president Debi Chirichella said it had notified its two partners in Russia, Shkulev Media and Fashion Press, that, effective immediately, it is exiting these partnerships by turning its equity over to them and, in the case of Fashion Press, terminating its licensing agreements of its owned brands. ... more under paywall

To me it seems more like advertisers are pulling out from Russian publications so as not to be associated and they are using the censorship law for PR purposes. No ads no mag!

They should just merge Vogue Portugal and Vogue Brazil. In my opinion

I think both editions are licensed so it's unlike to happen...but even there is a difference in the Portuguese both countries speak...they share something but each country have their own words too, so it would be complicate in terms of making the articles,etc,etc....

I subscribed to Town and Country last year, March but only got 6 issues….
