Tom Ford S/S 2011 New York

I'm confused... was that whole one camera thing a hoax?? I keep seeing images that look like they were NOT taken by Terry, maybe it's a still from the video.

^ I read somewhere that there were members of Terry's team shooting from different points in addition to Terry.

The video will be up in 10 days!

To @mikeijames I would like to say that witholding my opinion about this collection I think there is a way to create a "timeless" piece that can still look a tad dated. I mean I think that opinions on timeless-ness vary from person to person. Besides a t0shirt and jeans, I think that somepeople may see it as timeless and others won't. Especially when it comes to luxury or glamourous pieces because in a day and age of minimalism some could deny the pieces relevancy

And I understand how to get Karma... I mean what do you DO with it afterwards?

oh, i completely agree...but that's why it's so personal. one could make the argument about each of the menswear collections he has put out as well. even with that, one can see that tom ford has not put forward "trend" work like some of the other houses we love. i'll be the first to admit that the exactly-on-trend chunky dolce and gabbana cardigan sends me into a fashion frenzy, but it's not quite the same process that gets me excited about the cashgora crew neck creations from tom ford. by design, one will look dated by next fall while the other is made to hold its fashion currency.

see that's the difference I will hold my dolce chunky cardigan until there are holes in it(and the ones I can stick my thumbs through don't count)

well, simply put, some people like timeless pieces, others like trendy pieces. we'll all see how things will pan out in 5 years.

I really love the blue fringe dress...seriously all the other dresses could've been sh!t on a stick and I wouldn't have cared because of that amazing blue fringe dress.

well, simply put, some people like timeless pieces, others like trendy pieces. we'll all see how things will pan out in 5 years.

but there's a gigantic market for seemingly timeless pieces that fashion folk wear in trendy ways. one but need to watch the swift sales at stores like cartier, hermes, goyard, bottega veneta, rolex, and so many others.

It compliments his menswear, invoking that old school glamour. People love talking about "returning to old school glamour", and in face of all the less than sophisticated movie stars and celebrities I can't blame them. Problem with the old school glamour is that it can sometimes come off as trite and uninspired. Maybe Ford's womenswear is not trite but it is uninspired.

I can't examine the clothes properly and getting quite dizzy watching the video

The photography really didn't do this collection any favors. I mean by now we've seen enough of the clothes to know that they're pretty photogenic, not to mention that the clothes and makeup look fantastic in the film. Why Terry was the first choice to shoot such an event boggles the mind. I'm also slightly (meaning very) disappointed that we didn't get to hear any of the commentary Mr. Ford provided during the show in the video.

That said I really do love most of the looks.

The runway video is such a mess, I've seen everything which practically means nothing. The only thing I remember is Beyoncé, half of the video looked a promo clip taken from her website.

I'm always angry that so many designers can't put up with a decent runway video, is it really so hard? I understand Tom's exclusive fashion idea, but keeping us waiting so long just to end up with such a tiny and messy thing from quite a special show that it indeed was, is really pathetic.

Most of the collection is really beautiful, still. I especially love the furry/feathery dresses on Julianne and Du Juan. Any idea what are they made of?

I agree with mackos, while not a huge fan of this collection, some pieces do challenge modernity vs felinity in an interesting fashion and it is not obvious on this messy video. Seems to me Tom did care about the collection but not so much about the esthetics and the prestige of the runway, is he sending a message ?

While the video is all kind of amazing and makes you wish you attended this presentation, what on Earth are those photos?! Are they Terry's? I can't believe they're displayed on Tom's website! The quality is so poor.

^ I don't think they were all shot by terry... look at daria's shot, you can see him.
well, after seeing the whole collection I think it looks better. stella's look is to die for, it's my favorite one. tom ford's woman is still the same: very sensual but extremely elegant, and i love it.
