Top Ten Favorite Collections Of All Time

Well, I have only been into fashion for the past few years, and I have no interest in looking back so they don't go back very far.
These really aren't in order; I'll start with my favourite designer but I love them all completely and individually.

Giambattista Valli S/S 2008
This is the show on which viewing I discovered Mr Valli. Such utterly original twists on usual clothes. His inspiration came from his visit to Petra and the pink flowers that grow in the cracks of the rocks there. If there's something I love, it's individuality. If I was a wealthy lady I would wear everything in his collections.

Giambattista Valli A/W 2008-2009
On first viewing this collection I was shocked and frightened by the pieces coming down the runway - the bulking shapes and unusual use of materials. I learned shortly after that his inspiration was 'Little Red Riding Hood eats the wolf'. If I wasn't in love with it first, such amazing inspiration just tipped me over the edge and secured my devotion to him.

Giambattista Valli A/W 2007-2008
This collection I just loved as soon as I saw how the models were made up. I absolutely adore constast or small details that attract attention, and throughout the collection the shoes beamed brilliant colours while the clothes stayed mysterious, dark and completely beautiful and individual.

Calvin Klein Collection S/S 2008
Clean lines, sheer simplicity and yet undeniable identity with glowing materials and utter beauty

Chanel Haute Couture S/S 2005
The collection that introduced me to my love of fashion. I can only remember the fact that I loved Carmen Kass and adored the shoes she was wearing.

Christian Dior S/S 2007
One of the first shows I remember watching, I loved it from the start.

I'm not quite this is my definite top 10 but I'm not the best at deciding and rather just pick my choices without overthinking it. I could easily pick several collections from the same line, but I wanted it to be more varied.

I really also have to add Jean Paul Gaultier RTW SS 02.

An extremely heartwarming collection. It permeates peace, acceptance, tolerance and love. It was wonderfully ethnic, elegant and seemed to capture the beauty of spirituality....incredible how clothes can do that! And the clothes themselves were just so stunning...wonderful take on menswear, striking gowns and skirts, magnificent color palette and the styling is, in true JPG style, is fantastic. Just a gorgeously poignant...and especially since it was shown so shortly after 9/11.

^3 of your choices were in my list too and the rest on ure list are fantastic too!!

I can't wait till i have the time to make my own list, with a lot of tought put into it, takes quite a bit of time. I'm thinking there will be McQueen (either the collection with the rainbow rainforest dresses or "its just a game" or maybe the highlands collection, or depression dance marathon). Lanvin (I forget which season, but it had the dress Natalie portman wore the oscars). Nina Ricci (Theysken's debut), Prada (the one with Gemma Ward's first season). Calvin Klein (i forget which season, the one with Brian Eno as the soundtrack), Balenciaga (the season described in an earlier post). I can't wait!

^It took me ages to do mine, and Im still not sure that is right. I know Ive forgotten a few collections somwehere lol Ill have to renew it later,

Top 10 Favorite Fashion Shows

I was bored so i decided to create a thread for TFS members to list their 10 absolute favorite fashion show

with 1 being the best list your top 10 favorite fashion show in terms of the garments ,styling, casting, hair and makeup, venues, shoes, or even the music

My Top 10 Would Have to Be

10. Prada F/W 09/10:shock:

9. Gucci F/W 08/09

8. Alexander McQueen F/W 06/07

7. Lanvin F/W 08/09

6. Roberto Cavalli F/W 06/07

5. Givenchy S/S 2007 Couture

4. Balenciaga F/W 05/06

3. Yves Saint Laurent F/W 04/05

2. Givenchy F/W 07/08

1. Givenchy F/W 07/06 Couture:heart::heart::heart:

Nice one. I try to rack up mine...

10. Prada - SS 08: The Fairy Collection
: The clothes. I just loved the fairy prints and the sensuality crossed with the ugly checks and the impossible shapes. And the shoes. Pure wonder. Honorary mention to the magical music.
9. Viktor & Rolf - FW99: The Russian Doll: The show. It creeps the hell out of me for some strange reason.
8. Chanel - HC FW 2008: The Organ Pipes: The set-up. I'm strangely obsessed with those organ pipes. Comme Dans Un Rêve is a fantastic song on top of that and I love the grey rose gown on Coco Rocha.
7. Balenciaga - FW 07: The Trend Collection: The clothes. Created such a sh*tload of trends back in the day. And is still supremely good. Especially those nice blazers.
6. Jean Paul Gaultier - HC SS 08: The Mermaid Collection: Quite A Lot: The Underwater Love, the inky tatoos, the hair, the clothes, the mood, the staging and the bride with crutches.
5. Christian Lacroix - HC SS 08: An Angel Passing By: The clothes. Naturally. One of his most brilliant, exuberant, mind-blowing collections ever. Everything in that show was pure beauty.
4. Valentino - HC FW 07: The 45th Anniversary: Clothes again. Wake me at three am and I will be perfectly able to do sketches of all the outfits shown for you. The white suit opening, the emerald cocktail dress and the rhinestone-adorned number on Carol Trentini are some of my favourites here.
3. Alexander McQueen - SS 05: The Chessboard: Many things: The Relax. The staging. I'm a chess nerd. This show makes me feel a little less nerdy. How the outfits fit the respective men. And the clothes, of course. The yellow dresses, the carousel gown on Daria.
2. Marc Jacobs - SS07: Canon In D: Almost everything. The music, naturally. The runway, the shoe drama, the soft, romantic clothes, especially the jackets. Marc, master of the jacket. And the soft pinkish sequin top with the drapery and the flower detail on the shoulder.

1. John Galliano SS 08 - The Merry-Go-Round
: Everything! From the pretty Pastel clothes (eternal highlights: the light blue alice dress and the wrap number on Alana) to the model performances (Natasha Poly and Mariacarla in the silver trench) to the music (I jack you ooooooff) to the set-up, I love it. I watch it again and again! My favourite collection of all time.

VERSACE S/S 2008
I really loved this collection.
I adored the rainbow of dresses towards the end of the show.
