UK Vogue April 2023 : Jill, Precious & Paloma by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin

I’m curious to see the main editorial and ‘Quiet Reflection’ - wherever Lara Stone goes I’ll follow.

looks like a pretty decent issue to me. and now we wait.

thank you for the review @LastNight

When I was looking through my issue I couldn’t help but think how lovely that shot of Mona and Anok would have been for a spring cover. It’s strong and yet light, and the pop of the red and black suits against the backdrop is really pleasing.
True

Just got my subscription copy - it's the group shot. 256 pgs. Looking at the Contents page, there is only one cover shot credited - the group shot, so the others must only be for social media?

The cover manages to look even darker in real life, if that's possible.

The editorials feel like a slight cut above the content we've been seeing in recent months, thanks to the inclusion of faces like Karen Elson, although somehow the fashion stories feel like a small section at the back of the issue? Perhaps I've become habituated to other titles with paltry page counts. I'm not going to complain about a healthy magazine that's full of advertising.

I don't feel like I want to immediately recycle this issue (usually what I do with Vogue and Vanity Fair these days).

Didnt like any of that, unfortunately

WEAK WEAK WEAKKKKKKKKKK my gosh.
Irina' story is ok-ish.
''QUIET REFLECTION'' with Karen, Lara, Anok etc. is the only good editorial, everything else is bad and very amateur.
The cover story is boring as hell: I can't believe this is in Vogue.

More importantly, what's happening with Zoe Ghertner's work lately? The retouching, the poses, the angles...everything about that editorial is so bad and unevolved. You can tell very little thought went into that.
It's too soon in her career to be going through this level of fatigue, but the same is happening with Carlijn Jacobs as well. Photographers are not as invested in fashion as they should be and it shows.

Another dud of a British Vogue issue, if you ask me. Another issue lacking soul and zero signs of Edward Enninful's voice. I am 100% convinced Enninful will be eagerly awaiting Wintour's departure so he can get back to business. Enninful's true self seems to be restricted (a lot) lately.

The cover story is the only fashion editorial I am able to stomach within this issue, and even that is at an extreme push. Despite the inclusion of fab models like Malgosia Bela, Lara Stone and Anna Ewers... the stories are flat and lifeless. Not to mention the audacity to call the cover story 'The Trinity'. Those girls are... OK but to even suggest they can hold a candle to THE trinity of Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell is an embarrassment, and an enormous overstatement.

As @tigerrouge has already mentioned, there's zero signs of the solo covers inside the print issue - clearly were created for social media clout.

What a sad and gloomy issue…
I’m very surprised to see Jill as the real star of that main ed. She looks so strong, confident and sexy….
The others are just trying…Hard!

Alasdair story is the only one i like from this issue....

100% outtakes from a catalog. How is it possible these photos made it into this issue?
