UK Vogue January 2018 : Taylor Swift by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

Decent January issue actually! Taylor's ed works much better in print (still dislike the cover) the first shot posted here (on previous page) is actually not included as a full page photo, just in the content pages, and it's a shame because that is my favorite image. I did roll my eyes so hard at her not doing an interview, but a poem.

I wish Edward changed the art direction more, it still looks like Shulman's Vogue, but with more diversity. Or maybe i just always hated their art direction, will say that two issues in, the written content is good, and i worried about that under him!

He could take it easy with the Editor letters though, why so try hard? Why so long, it looks bigger than some actual columns.

Earlier this morning, I couldn't help but notice the issue's priced at £2 around my part of the UK. This time, however, the sticker is completely removable for those who don't want the red £2 sticker attached to their copy. Genius idea from whoever EVENTUALLY put this forward!

WOW! Quite strong and even stronger and better than the debut issue!
For some reasons, i love Bella's ed. This is maybe my favorite work from her since the Glamour ed she had last year.
I&V is strong and so is the rest...

This issue looks quite UK-ish.

I never understood the point of printing two covers, it has to be more cost effective to print one and sticker a selection. On the newsstand I have to say this does not look like any British Vogue has looked in a long time. It’s as if someone’s moved a stack of Vogue Paris up a shelf by accident or something. For me the best shot of the editorial is the red dress. The cover is very striking but I can’t say I’m in love with it as an image.

The cover is so tragic, but the main story is ok. Rianne's edit is amazing, appropiate to the summer meanwille it's the January's issue.

A really nice issue and so much better than December. Can't believe that I actually picked it up given that I hardly ever buy mags these days.

The cover story is very well done, but M&M/Edward definitely borrowed heavily from Michael Thompson's work for VP/W circa 1998 (promise I'm not being a blind stan...can't find the edit online, but particularly one with Olga Pantushenkova, although I suppose Man Ray is the influence for both). As for Rianne's...well I can't remember the last time I liked something so much from I&V. Lots of lovely shots there; gorgeous colours. I even liked Karim Sadli's (Ashley B cast this one BTW)...the Prada looks so good there. Wasn't really into Bella's, something about the attempt to re-do a Moss x Corinne Day vibe with a Hadid didn't sit well with me.

I do just hope that Edward pushes the art direction a bit further away from what Alex created...it looks a bit better this month but more could be done.

Love the Sadli edit, and Bella's edit is subdued and subtle- a change from her usual, sexy vibe- that's a refreshing take on her. Adut is such a doll face in everything I see her shot or booked for. Love her features, Sadli should shoot a solo edit of her, for sure.

Why this is issue getting a pass while VI’s offering is being slammed, I’ll never know… This 2nd issue already feels as disjointed and as musky as Alexandria’s Vogue after nearly 3 decades.

Taylor cuts an extremely model-esque figure with a doll’s face but she’s as interesting-looking here as Post-It notes. And this story looks like something dusted off from any given Another Magazine issue from a decade ago; you know-- the showgirl caught in (statuesque,) quiet, candid moments before she rules the stage. And why is that Karim person even given any slot, time and time again….????? He’s so consistently wallpaper, never making an effort to raise above— anything. The models must feel as bored as his shots make them look. The rest are all over the place: Edward can learn something from the Dec issue of Vogue Brazil, where there’s a cool electricity that weaves seamlessly from story to story giving the country a deserved, vibrant HF identity (and a stronger showing from Mert & Marcus).

It’s just W Magazine all over again under a new masshead. It’s like replacing Shawn Mendez with Bruno Mars: same bland sh*t. I suppose the lacklustre presentation is accurately reflected in the £2 price...

(The Tom Ford feature looks alright. Terrible, outdated-template layout carried over from Alexandria, I see— at least that’s proving consistent with Edward.)

Can anybody post it please.
