EDITOR'S LETTER + WTF?

UK Vogue Digital Edition

Adut's ed is more about the scenery than the clothes. I can't see her face. Karolin Wolter's looks good. But really, nothing in this issue interests me.

This issue is £2 in the shops. Has a black price sticker on it.

When it comes to the print issue, sometimes the flow of pages builds up a mood - a sense of something above and beyond the impact of the individual images we get to see as scans.

But ahead of seeing the actual magazine, so far most of this doesn't feel very Vogue.

It's not the people or the places, it's the lack of imagery that makes you feel something. Nothing seduces or shocks or impresses or makes you look twice.

Karolin's editorial is lovely but straight out of Porter. The Weber rip-off is too American Vogue for my taste, I hate how messy it looks but it's great to see Marisa. Edward should give her a cover shot by Meisel. That'd be instantly iconic!
Summerton's landscapes are absolutely beautiful but as a fashion story, it could've been better. This looks like National Geographic tried to do fashion. As for Rihanna... the woman can't take a bad picture. But this isn't nearly my favorite shoot she did.

I agree it would've been iconic, but I guess Steven doesn't want to shoot her (and 99% of other celebs, thankfully).

What a fantastic May issue! Love all of the eds, and contents, just what I needed at this moment. DESPISE the covers, but Rihanna's ed really works, SHE pulls it off, the hair, the styling, everything here i like. Wish they used better covers. But overall, looking at this issue reminds me what a great editor Edward is, he just gets "it". The Lee Miller ed is great, and Adut/VA one is beautiful. Now i just want this issue in my actual hands.

That's it? I am not surprised they are giving it out for free.
Everything is mediocre and boring. Where is the creativity, fun, fantasy?

It looks like nowadays creative power is given to people who have absolutely nothing to say. The whole industry needs a major shake up because it's getting progressively worse every year.

…Yawn …
I just don’t get .... “it”. What is IT?
It seems awfully fugly to me. Rhianna … again, wearing a durag & having a facial tattoo - Vogue is boring me to death

What is … “truth” ?

Some photos in Karolin/Zoe's editorial are lovely. Otherwise it's a blah issue as usual.

I love minimal Steven Klein, but this cover story is boring as can be, totally forgettable!

Oh Lord, I dread to think what magazines' June Covid-19 2020 issues will look like :alien:...

What is … “truth” ?

According to the insufferable feature, “truth” is that our multibillionaire Riri is apparently a saviour to humanity…

You know, with Edward, I can always rely on the lowest of standards to appeal to the masses. But it’s an all-time low when a storyteller like Klein is hired to shoot what is essentially a basic, bland and generic lookbook. Anyone could have shot this (and just added a noise filter:( Why not just hire some random community college graduate? … Edward could hire a Black student and pat himself on his own back by hyping how “brave” he is for giving an unknown Black photographer the privilege to shoot his Vogue (take that Anna and Tyler!:( He’s already hyping the durag on the covershot as some historical cultural breakthrough…
