US ELLE September 2008 : Jessica Simpson by Carter Smith

URGH LORD PLEASE MAKE THIS END! the fact that she has more than one cover of Elle says so much!

She's either photographs REALLY well or REALLY poorly. This is for sure the latter.

What happened to Simpson's hips on the cover? Are they on work leave? Slept in late? Because she does not have the boyish figure I see on Elle's cover .

I was really excited for this issue, especially since I collect September covers, but I really can't buy anything with her on the cover... especially looking like THAT.

I find Jessica Simpson's ed awful but the one with the kids is so cute!!

No scans yet? I saw it yesterday i the bookstore, but how I'm a subscriper, and don't received this month until now =/

i was disappointed with this issue. last year's issue was great. i was expecting the same type of articles and editorials. :(

Last year they had something called the Elle Fashion Essay. It was six essays on six top trends and i loved it. This year however it's just the regular Elle Fashion First Looks. I was looking for a more detailed analysis of this year's trends.

The Fashion Know It All's article last year featured four questions. This year only had two. They could have gone the extra mile for september.

This year's issue has more pages on trends. 7 pages to last year's 6.

The only thing this issue has more of than last year's is ads. Not exactly what I was hoping for.

Editorials:

JS Goin' Country (Jessica's edit)
photographed by Carter Smith
styled by Joe Zee
It's just Jess looking really country.

10 Women on the Verge
Models: Mia at Trump, Moesha at Next
Photographed by Chad Pitman
styled by Christopher Niquet
Just a short article and pics of the top ten trends. It's okay.

Angle of Repose
Models: Anzhelika Kocheva at Marilyn and Anna De Rijk at DNA.
photographed by Serge Leblon
styled by Alessandra Woroniecka
There is an Egyptian pyramid background.

I Love The 80's
Model: Hana S
photographed by Alexei Hag
styled by Joe Zee
Hana showing off today's clothes styled like the 80's . I think it's a great reminder of why the 80's were horrific.

A Perfect Stranger
Model: Victoria Wallace at New York Models
photographed by Stephen Shore
styled by Kate Lanphear
By far the best ed in the issue. The model is wearing all Armani and there is an article as well. It's set in Venice.

High School Confidential
Models: Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Tisdale
Photographed by Tierney Gearon
styled by Kate Lanphear
I admit the styling is good. There is an article as well.

Forever Blue Jeans
Model: Stephanie Seymour
photographed by Jacob Sutton
styled by Aleksandra Woroniecka
There isn't much to say. It's just Stephanie being Stephanie.

Fade to Black
Model: Victoria Tibblin at City Model
photographed by Jean-baptiste Mondino
styled by Christopher Niquet
It's the second best editorial. The model is wearing all black and is the rocker type chick with guitars and microphones.

Carry On
Model: Alison Nix
photographed by Stephane Coutelle
styled by Sarah Cobb
It's an accessories ed.

I really can't stand the disney kids but i think the styling of that ed was amazing. It was a little awkward with tisdale there in the shots with the couple. Like a third wheel..

Articles:

There are a ton of pages dedicated to Art Exbitions, and "Jet Setter".

Joe Zee's column was about the styling on Ugly Betty and how Zee would style it.

There is a one page article dedicated to YSL. I think it's pretty short for a legend.

A short interview with Alexander McQueen.

They re-did the what to wear to work article "Elle Fashion Workbook, Passing the Bar" It reminds me of Vogue Paris' En Vogues

Elle Shops is based on Fall's Must Haves

There is a countdown of 25 things to look forward to in Pop Culture this Fall.

Cinderella Man: An article about menswear inspiration in womenswear.

Best In Show: Best makeup of the season

All the rest are the norm Elle articles.

After looking through the issue again i see it has more to offer than I thought.

^ It's worth buying because there is alot of stuff in there, so you won't get through it in one sitting, but editorial-wise, none of the edits are any good imo. Honestly the only one I kinda even liked was the HSM one and I really hate the cropping and overall layout of the magazine it all seems so cluttered.
