It's been easily 5 years since I last bought US Vogue, and I found this issue yesterday on the floor, so I took it (gross but hey...). There's a nice article on gun control, and on gardening but didn't really read that one

...
I don't pay much attention to model fanaticism anymore, or passionate aversion towards a certain model.. they're just models, but I have to say, it's been over 10 years since I saw Caroline Trentini in US Vogue for the first time (that story with the frizzy hair and tweed looks), and I remember thinking at the time that she looked like a poor man's Lily Cole, maybe the insipid lovechild of both Lily and Heather Marks (both in high demand at the time), and the trend would pass and so would that girl, whose expressions looked more annoying than just nothing. Well... it's been years and it's beyond me this insistance on putting her to lead some otherwise fantastic productions. I feel like whoever keeps casting her got it wrong the first time and knew it but was too proud to admit it so they stick with her knowing at least the years will validate this collaboration... like a marriage that's sucked from day one

. Jamie is one of the few photographers whose constant delivery of new ideas justifies all the hype and sadly, the editorial with Caroline in this issue proves that models are not that replaceable after all and can make a huge difference, you can't always tell when she's superb because you can't even imagine the story with anyone else but you can tell when the model is bad because the moment you see each picture, you start fantasizing on that same image with someone better... and man she's terrible, and she's been terrible for 10 years!... I'm guessing 10 years at David Sims for Vogue academy will do that... same silly posing, odious overly calculated expressions that only respond to instructions... the lighting, scenery and clothes are all working, and she's positively ruining it... it made me want to get the latest Cereal and detox from models altogether.
