US Vogue July 2013 : Katy Perry by Annie Leibovitz

WOOW the Karlie editorial is really good!! FANTASTIC:heart:

^My sentiment exactly! I've noticed that even though July is the thinnest issue of the year, it's usually packed with amazing content...must be the lack of advertising that can let them focus on producing a beautiful issue instead of a heavy one.

Karlie looks truly amazing in Destination Detox. She has firmed up her status in US Vogue making incredible eds issue after issue. What a stunning ed.
Identity Politics has fulfilled my earlier expectation for it. That's a nice matchup of studio and location pics and of a variety of models from Fei Fei to Liya. Good to see Catherine here, as well as Vanessa and Amanda Murphy. Not to mention Karen, Carolyn, Stella and Liya.
Sasha's ed, on the other hand, does nothing for me. It's a typical boring studio ed by David Sims. Sasha's face and expression look a bit too harsh there, and I really don't like that Gollum-ish hair.

Wow, Vanessa Axente is really beautiful. Please can fashion industry much her around more than Edie Campbell and Cara D? Would love to see her score a VP or UK Vogue cover.

That particular shot of Karlie in Céline doing a duckface pout makes me cringe. Other than that all 3 eds offer interesting aspects. Perfect cast for Identity Politics, stunning locations in Destination Detox and it's great to see Sasha again.

While the editorials are safe as always, I appreciate their casting. It's a nice mix of established models and up and comers with diverse ethnicities as well (not something we always see in vogue). Also... SASHA!

Wow this issue has definitely surpassed my expectations! I really like Identity Politics, a great cast there. Karlie's ed is wonderful also. I wish Sasha's editorial was a bit more exciting but I'm happy just to see her here, to be honest!

...So far Identify Politics is the saving grace in what appears to be a terribly weak July issue after June's Americana perfection.

Sasha's editorial is pathetic. Karlie's was a great concept, but falls flat. Katy Perry is, as someone else so accurately put it, terribly dopey looking.

Nope, no thanks, see ya in August.

Yes, Vanessa looks beautiful, but I don't think she is suitable for VP cover.
" Identity Politics " looks really great, love cast! Sasha looks so beautiful and soft in her editorial...

Testino and Phyllis' ed with Karlie was shot in Wörthersee in Austria, I used to go there every year! I actually love when Testino focuses on beauty editorial. His Newton-influenced stories are always something special!

I'm rather disappointed not to see Daria's ed in this issue though :(, I guess they pushed it back to August?

I always admire when a magazine gives us a different approach to how a celebrity is usually styled, so I admire Katy Perry's photos from that aspect. The pictures have turned out very nice, given Perry a whole new look and done her justice. She has indeed undergone a Vogue-makeover.

Isn't is amazing how American Vogue always seem to reinvent a studio shoot, each and every one they produce somehow feels fresh and new. McDean and team have done wonders. All of the girls look amazing here, the shot of Karen wearing Marc Jacobs is beautiful. It's fantastic to see Sasha Pivovarova back in US Vogue. It feels as though we haven't seen her forever and David Sims' story is like a breath of fresh air. Sasha's expressions are wonderful, very inviting and a total contrast to Karlie's in Testino's story. My favourite set of images outta' this issue, by far.

You just knew how Destination Detox was going to look from the details in the review. The images are strong and compelling but once you've seen one photo you've seen the rest a thousand times.

Identify Politics is really beautiful! Vanessa is so amazing there!

Yes, great casting, great photography (especially Karlie's ed), but I am not feeling how they styled Sasha's hair either. Her edges seem to be so thin, and her hairline is way re-ceded. Still, gorgeous face.

^^I think Sasha's hair is ok; she never had super thick hair anyway.

What an incredible issue overall! So refreshing to see Sasha back in the game! Identity Politics is stunning and Karlie's OG ed is amazing as well! Definitely getting this! :D

So great to see Sasha!!

That McDean ed saves this issue for me. Great cast, styling, photography, posing, setting etc. Typical US Vogue ed done right.
