US Vogue June 2010 : Blake Lively by Mario Testino

^
Karen has gotten a lot more generically beautiful over the years. With the right make-up, I don't see why she can't appeal to the bigger audience.

Sorry. Friendly debate! :flower:
I agree that Karen would be a great choice for a Vogue cover. She is a true chameleon and can do the classic and classy that would appeal to the general US Vogue audience as well as us, model cover lovers.

DIVINE.
I wasn't waiting to like it, but well... simple et efficient, Blake at her best!!

Though fitting for summer, the cover does lack artistry and reminds of those that I have seen many (many, many!) times before. I'm excited to see the ever beautiful Karen Elson...

for someone who does nothing, she has two vogue covers.

other than that, she looks great. its a good cover for us vogue standards.

No problem. ;)

I would have loved to see Karen on the cover of any Vogue again and I'm not a fan of Blake - but I guess she fits the June issue far more than a pale redhead femme fatale with a kind of Gothic edge.
That said, the cover isn't overwhelming but it certainly evokes summery vibes. B)

You know what? Fair point :)

At the same time, for a sunny June cover, someone like Diane Kruger would also be awesome.

I have nothing against Blake. She seems very sweet. However, I do agree that she has gone by on the "sunny golden girl" looks without any talent to back it up.

It's just she has a tendency to make everything look like GQ or Sports Illustrated. Since this is Vogue, I think someone like Diane Kruger would have given it a classier touch :)

That's precisely the problem. I also have nothing against Blake except the fact that she has absolutely no talent whatsoever. To think that she has already nailed to US Vogue covers is outrageous, imho.

I've never seen Gossip Girl and I don't know a lot about Blake but I really like this cover and I'm a sucker for sunny summery editorials and Testino is a master in this field. For some reason she is really reminding me of Elaine Irwin Mellencamp.

its a refreshing cover...I enjoy it and the editorial
especially the 2nd shot

I do wish Leighton would get a Vogue cover
she would look far much more better

Yawn.

Guess it's not just Harvey for Blake, it's Anna too.

It's a bit tacky.:innocent:

Doutzen's ed with Terry Richardson in in this issue, isn't it? Even more tacky.

Love, love, love. ♥ Blake Lively is the perfect cover choice for June. She embodies the California girl.
I can't wait for the Joan Smalls feature!

Her last cover must have sold well...but 2 covers in a year! Wow, Blake's career is very charmed.

Not as bad as I thought it would be tbh. Something about it reminds me of Uma Thurman's cover from June 2006.

hmm, you can question the quality of what she does but nothing, really?, last time I checked she was shooting a show and a movie.. that sounds busy, busier than other girls who have landed more vogue covers.. like Sienna Miller for example.

I cannot think of a better choice for a surf theme than Blake, the cover is bland, like tigerrouge said, her entire look is her forte, not really her face, which automatically makes her a weak choice for a cover.. the story however seems to make up for it, it has a feel-good vibe to it and I really don't think there's a celebrity right now who can promote youth and health and (I feel funny saying this) a much needed light-hearted approach to fashion better than Blake.. she dresses horribly in the red carpet but sometimes I find it refreshing to see someone who at least dances dizzily around such a sough-after concept like fashion and doesn't really look at it so desperately or seriously or with total immunity. So yeah, Blake is pretty much the only actress that can sell summer on the beach to me and the whole 80s/90s idea that you can only look this good by working out and being on the beach instead of not eating, marrying Brad Pitt or being friends with Karl Lagerfeld.. hell, she's from California.. where's Kruger from again?, she can keep the all-couture story for the October issue.

That's precisely the cover I was talking about in one of my previous posts. I just couldn't remember the year. Thanks for posting, diorelle.
