US Vogue February 2009 : Blake Lively by Mario Testino

Ha! I'll be right there with you, there can never be "too much discussion in these forums" for me. We could have scans of words!

The other day I read through an old article and thought, "I agree with every word that's been said here!" ...only to realise, that's because I wrote it. This is what senility will be like, it won't be far off for me.

As long as there are a few of us it could be great I think, I'm also in the "there can never be too much discussion" camp, scans of words suit me just fine. Plus I think there is some really interesting writing happening right now. ^_^

That kind of senility sounds like bliss tbh.

I cannot believe I'm excited about seeing Vogue US:shock: but hey it's true, I am.:woot: I'm not gonna fight it either.
First off the best cover in a long time even though I have no interest in the cover star.
The editorials are superb and I am loving the use of some new bloodB) so hats off to Mr. Meisel. Viktoriya featuring is the most exciting IMO, unfortunately the use of Karlie not so much, but I can give and take.:P
The whole issue just really looks good for a change.
Thanks to everyone here for reviews, scans etc.:flower::flower:

Luxx i would love a thread about magazine articles! i keep cuttings of some of my favourites, i have a lot that i have loved from vanity fair, which i suppose aren't as fashion-centric but a few deal with issues like celebrity culture and the like, which seem hopelessly melded with fashion nowadays anyway...

the editor's letter that you posted was fabulous. i've always loved what anna writes in her letters, regardless of whether it is quite reflected in the issue itself. Although i think that vogue US has some really good content most of the time. ^_^

I don't usually pay much attention to the US Vogue articles unless it's about some costume from a new film in which I'm interested or Coco's hair. Maybe I should start ? I find that GQ and Men's Vogue tend to have the kind of content that grabs my attention with little effort. I don't how that reflects on me :ermm:.

The covers okay, but nothing special. I wish they'd get rid of all these actresses and put models on the cover. Until then I wont be happy with it. Love Aggy in it though.

the agyness editorial is so predictable, but the funny thing is that nobody even knows or gives a **** who her boyfriend is so it's kind of random to throw him in there. It reminds me of her last US Vogue editorial that was kind of hippie inspired (and very tacky)

Catherine's pics are really nice. She looks good. Wish the story was longer.

I totally support the article thread idea, Luxx. Articles are usually what fill my otherwise fickle impression of a magazine and they often complement the line of imagery they work on.. reason why I love Another Magazine so much.

the first shot in perfect harmony is so gorgeous and sweet...the rest are just odd looking and lacking in genuine connection on agyness' behalf...this is her bf, portrayal of emotions and a romantic relationship should just exude naturally...it's just so akward looking, bar the first one...that third pic also shows that her head is really disproportioned in relation to her body...her head is so small compared to the length of her long body

Let's end this thread with a bang! Here's the official set of UHQ scans of Blake's 6-page editorial (minus the articles).

**All scans by yours truly

That's it for me for this issue. Au Revoir!

oh. :zorro:
that turned out a thousand times better than I expected, I thought they'd go for couture or new bad designers like Alexander Wang or Erin F., something that would aberrantly attempt to justify why they chose her for the cover. I'm glad they didn't.. and I'm also glad they didn't go for these two common ways of romanticizing a New Yorker.. perhaps because this is more close to my own fantastic tale based on Elizabeth Arden ads of late 90s where blonde models were shot in the city, wearing black and red lips... I guess it's a cliche view on elegance but I can't deny my eternal love for it.. and this resembles that enough for me.

thanks for posting, kroqjock.

Isn't it ironic? - Vogue US is always criticized because of the contents and is being received so well this month, while VP that is (or was) considered the best Vogue isn't going really well.

thanks for the HQ's
I think the cover would look better without the awful banner. Blake looks gorgeous in the pictures.
I can't believe that I'm looking forward to picking up a copy of US VOGUE :woot:

i can't believe how good la dolce vita is
The contents are pretty good, especially considering this is US Vogue. I hate the cover though, not because of Blake, I just simply find it and her on it ugly.

But I think it's really unfair that this is getting so much praise when it's only mediocre because people's expectations are always so low.

I don't think this content is mediocre at all. I think it's really great stuff - the Meisel story is as good as the one he did for Vogue Italia this month. I think it's nice Vogue US is finally putting out some stuff that is worthy of discussion that isn't just "this suxxx" ^_^

There are still a few things left to be posted and I'll try and finish them up today. Here is the Sims edit. What I like about this editorial is that even though it is yes a Sims blank background edit in Vogue there is this incredible energy running through it. They aren't just smiling and jumping - in some shots the girls look about reading to kick some serious butt. So before these pictures make the rounds and are turned into macros on Jezebel, I just want to say that if were going to have staid studio shots they should be like this. I get an almost tae kwon do feel from the posing and the facial expressions.

Chanel looks ready to rumble!

^You describe it perfectly. Thanks for the scans.

Ouch @ Jourdan looking like she dislocated her arm....and  @ Chanel ready to kick some butt!

There's something wierd about Karlie's picture, her shoe (the one in the air) has a shadow, which it shouldn't....and it's really flat, did they photoshop out the box that was under it? Or am I crazy?
