the cover shot is decent altho that second image of her wearing the Dolce body suit would have made for a more interesting cover.

i do like the more naturalistic aspect of her freckles shining through but less air-brushing would be even more refreshing.
she's in her late 30s w/nary a wrinkle in sight...

wonder if marais or cantello did the make-up? those brows are over kill; they almost look spray-painted on.

and VOGUE 5 ways to heat up my summer would suffice

One thing I can appreciate about the cover, is the texture of skin. That shot of Penelope wearing the Dolce and Gabbana bodysuit is sublime, to say the least.

This is a nice cover but I don't think it's as mind-blowing as people are making it out to be. It's a portrait. We've seen a zillion like it. I guess if you like the celebrity then a simple portrait can be elevated to "best cover ever" or something.

i actually disagree that the body suit image would have made for a more interesting cover...
it would have made for a more conventional cover imo and sure, it would have looked good, but it wouldn't have gotten everyone talking the way the closeup shot has.

It's a stunning image of penelope and it's sure to attract attention on a newsstand -- but I have to wonder when the point of US Vogue became to feature beautiful images of celebrities and not beautiful images of fashion. This cover is not in the least bit challenging, and that's a problem. It's basically a headshot.

close-ups of celebrity faces are about as conventional as magazine covers can get imo and while i like the more down-to-earth mood of Penelope's cover it's far from astounding. considering the image was shot on-location i find the face shot an easy way out and pretty humdrum; definitely did not maximize the sultry beauty of Penelope or her surroundings.
