US Vogue June 2013 : Kate Upton by Mario Testino

I don't find Kate that interesting. I'll still buy this issue because Vogue's content has been fantastic this year but other than that...I'm not that crazy about her...she looks to "normal" for me. She takes the fantasy element out of fashion for me and i don't like that.

Those t*ts are 1 in 10,000 so there's the sense of wonder for you

In less than 2 days this thread is close to reach 20.000 views... now imagine magazine stands, this definitely was a smart choice.

that's what i find hilarious. people go on and on about how "boring" she is and yet whenever she's on a magazine cover, it becomes the biggest thread on the site. lol. how entirely boring and uninteresting she must be...

She has charisma, a huge amount, looking at her photos and videos make you feel positive, she embodies a positive image that I think is refreshing and pleasing. While fashion loves the skinny skinny girls, it does give off some sort of sadness and I think showing the opposite is shocking and attractive, very alluring. Also fashion loves to have their niche of something unordinary. I love her

You prove my point and like I said Some people are indeed trying very hard to make her happen. The fact that Vogue UK in particular offered her a cover as a celebrity, was a totally random and a baffling decision, and her presence is still zero. Even the "anonymous" models Vogue UK puts on their covers follow a sort of internal logic of relevance for the UK, this woman must have some powerful backers.
of course she does..the general public...thats why she is getting huge jobs normally reserved for celebrities. Maybe the general public is tired of the severe vibe in fashion and wants to go back to the happier side of fashion that was commn in the 50s and part of the 60s

So, Steven Meisel was angry because Testino shoot Kate for the cover and not him? :innocent:

What general public does she have in the UK or continental Europe?

You are aware that in google trends you can actually search search trends by country and the only model who consistently comes close, or in some cases passes Kate Upton in search trends is Cara. Joan and Karlie aren't even a blip on the map when it comes to those two. The problem is Cara is barely even noticed in the United States, and worldwide trends still favor Kate Upton. So obviously there is some type of market value for KU in the rest of the world including the UK and continental Europe. Just because you don't see her appeal, doesn't mean people not in fashion don't.

in all honesty, the cover is good. i like it a lot.

and i don't really have a problem with kate's body. i think it's good that the vogue people is embracing a full body type figure. but i just think that her face is a bit bland, her angles are limited.

and what is baffling me is that how can kate "happen" when other commercial models like bar or irina who share the same body type but with a more stunning face is nowhere near kate's success...

I love how some people is going "stop trying to make her happen".

Back-to-back SI covers, VI cover, UK Vogue cover, CR's first cover and now an American Vogue cover. Sorry, but she IS happening already even if some people does not like it.

I like this cover and the bronzed summer glow on Kate. The fact is that she sells covers and products, she is appealing to people interested in fashion and to the "normal people" who are not so interested in fashion like we guys are here at this forum.

Personally she does not fit my ideal of the perfect model but I give her credit for her recent successes in fashion - SI covers, British and Italian Vogue, Fashion Book etc.
I like that she reminds us of the 1990s models who had curvier bodies.

As MissLimaVzla said, Kate IS happening. Accept it guys and move on!

Quick question for those in New York, happen to be in the city in few days, is this issue out already? Usually in big cities it comes out sooner.

No one has said she hasn't arrived and I give her credit for taking every opportunity she has gotten. People are saying they don't get her appeal & there far more better looking sexy models out there that don't look like p*rn stars. IMO she doesn't have a pretty face it is actually terrible in candids. This is strictly about sales because women who have her body type which is sadly majority of America minus the melons. I can't go further on that subject. Men like her and most American women can relate to her. The end. I will never get it & don't have to like her.

Any bets on Carolyn Murphy having another editorial?

Any bets on Carolyn Murphy having another editorial?

This.

I am a fan of Carolyn's, to be sure, but her total comeback here to VOGUE favourite does have me slightly puzzled. Either way, I do enjoy her editorials and she certainly delivers. She just doesn't seem connected to the fashion world, to me.

I don't have a lot of time to do a full review but Edie Campbell has an OG edit, Dree Hemingway OG Edit, Joan Smalls heavily featured with OG edit plus appearances in two other sections. Image from her Sail Away edit also featured.
