US Vogue September 2007 : Sienna Miller by Mario Testino

why is vogue thicker than my accounting book

This issue is turning into a joke more than anything. How many advertisements do you all think Vogue will shoot for next September? I'm placing my bets on over 700, just so they can yet again announce that it's their "biggest issue ever."

I felt embarrassed holding the magazine in a grocery store today due to the sheer size, so I quietly set it down. I imagine, if placed in a typical grocery store plastic bag, it'd rip a giant hole through and fall to the ground.

And why shouldn't they strive for that:unsure:The name of the game in the magazine business is advertising dollars...and US Vogue makes it happen^_^

can anyone tell me till what date will the sept issue be on newstands in the US? when the Oct issues hits, does it mean the sept issue will disappear?

^ Usually that happens, unless you're lucky to go to a shop that keeps the old issues until they are sold.

alix - But the spet issue will remain roughly till what date? I dont wanna buy it here in india. Its like Rs 800, when its marked just 5.50 US dollars (def. not more than Rs 300). have a friend going there mid september....

Tuesday 9/25 is the date for October to be on all newsstands...but some take longer.
If your friend is going to one of the major cities in the US then October should be out by Wed 9/19.
Really...it all depends on what city & what magazine distributor the shop uses.

Thanks:flower:

In case sept Vogue isnt around, which of elle, bazaar, w is better? Have to say, neither of them look really exciting :( Might as well order a box of chocolates from the States:P

9:13 p.m.: Anna Wintour says that Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, the designers behind Proenza Schouler, “live a very downtown and bohemian life.” So $375 tanks are what pass for “bohemian” in Wintour’s world. Yikes.

That Gawker piece is priceless and here I thought Gawker had fallen off. I predict a Model Macros thread to pop up any minute now :innocent:

I expect at least 5 Trentini shots captioned "I'M UP IN UR VOGUE KILLIN UR MOODZ"

Does anyone know the commissions that US Vogue gets from all of this...? :ninja:

Then my city is super, SUPER small. Vogue Sepetember just came out here.:ninja: Maybe I should start going to Barnes & Noble instead of Books-A-Million.

1:28 a.m.: Plum Sykes, at last we meet again.
1:52 a.m.: It’s taking forever to get through this Plum Sykes thing. Probably because we’re exhausted and we keep having to go back and re-read, and also because it won’t end. This must be the world’s longest article ever about, of all things, brooches. Of course, it’s also about, of all things, Plum Sykes.
The trouble is, pin-wearing is alien to me; the last person I knew who wore them on a daily basis was my grandmother Madeleine.
Trouble indeed! Why not take two and a half pages to figure out how to put a pin on a dress?
1:54 a.m.: The exciting conclusion? She successfully wears brooches in public. Let the ticker-tape parade begin.

That had me in tears of laughter! It's just so true, on the rare time I pick up US Vogue the quality of their articles is usually so poor - they seem even more keen on socialites than UK Vogue.

i didn't really enjoy the issue that much. i didnt read all of it tho- i usually skim norwich notes and some of the longer articles that I am not really interested in.

some things i do like...
i enjoyed the sienna article. it seemed to just capture her youthful and fun personality to the tee. but i still dont know why she was featured on the cover. i guess she is a style icon since she was the poster girl for "bohemian" and a trendsetter.

i still have to read the article abt the "american royalty"
i also liked the whole fearless fashion concept and that people are sometimes afraid to just be chic. i can relate- sometimes you have to just go for it and not care if ppl think you are trying to hard.

plum sykes bothers me- especially her lisp. and i felt dumber after reading bergdorf blondes
