I'm not sure if this thread is allowed or not, so feel free to delete if it's not, but the finalists of the V/Supreme competition are in... I'm shocked by some of these to be honest...:innocent:

12.03.07 TOMORROW'S FACES
Five young women descend on NYC today in hopes of becoming the winner of the V Magazine/Supreme model search

After two months of non-stop entries, daily voting, and general insanity, the five finalists of the V Magazine/Supreme Management Model Search 2007 have come to the fore. Amanda, Ashley, Dara, Kasia, and Samantha are currently sitting in Supreme offices getting sized up by Paul Rowland and crew. Over the next 48 hours they'll be taking part in test shoots, castings, and go-sees, and one of them will make it on to becoming the grand prize winner with her own V fashion story. Right now, meet the fabled five.

Amanda Laine, 15, 5'10'' Canada

Personal statement:
To become a model has always been a dream and to have the opportunity to meet and work with such creative and artistic people would make it complete. To have the chance to travel the world and learn different cultures while doing something I love would make the dream come true.

Ashley Hanks, 13, 5'11'' USA

Personal statement:
I want to model because I love fashion, runway and taking pictures. I feel like this is what I'm meant to do. I feel like modeling will be good for my future. I want to walk in fashion shows and be in photo shoots for magazines. Modeling is something I just feel a passion for. I want to learn more about the fashion world too. I'm so interested in it. Right now I have a subscription to Vogue and W magazine because I love looking at all the models and poses they do. I would love to win this contest and make it as a model…It would be a dream come true.

Dara Main, 14, 5'11'' Canada

Personal statement:
I love the fashion industry and all the latest trends. Walking the runway evertime is the most amazing experience. The best part is meeting different people from all over the world. I can't wait to meet more.

Kasia Zych, 18, 5'10'', Latvia

Personal statement:
I've wanted to work as a model for a long time. I want to get to the top.

Samantha Voth, 19, 5'11'', Canada

Personal statement:
I love fashion, but not just for the creative pieces the designers create but also for the photographs and the creativity behind them. I would love to be apart of that world.

Yes, I kinda fail to see how someone who is only 13 could have scored high in this part of the judging "(vii) being able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities of a professional model".

Also, Kasia Zych, according to her agent Avant Models in her thread, is 16 from Poland, not 18 from Latvia.

That all said, I like Amanda the most, and hope out of these she wins.

i think ashley is so young but she is my choice, se is definetely talented for her age!

i think it's strange that some of these choices didn't even finish in the top 10, let along the top 100 in voting...

what was the point of voting?

Actually, just realized that part of the judging is to judge the Winner, not to judge who becomes a finalist. So unless she wins, forget about this comment

I like Amanda Laine's look, but their ages surprise me a little bit too.

hmmm... the only one i noticed amongst all the pictures was Samantha Voth. I don't recall seeing the other 4 girls.

^I think Amanda and Dara entered on the last day (or close to)

Combined these girls received 34 votes and two of them had zero apiece.

They're all by far better than the top five vote getters that's for sure.

I also like Ashley and Amanda the best, but I couldn't truly judge unless I saw polaroids

^^well, IMO, extending it to the top 10 vote-getters, I think Julia or Oksana should've been there instead of Dara or Samantha.... I don't see anything interesting about those two, from these pics they sent in at least.

Dara definitely isn't interesting. 13 y/o is a bit too young but putting her into Supreme/development she'll do the most work and yet find the time for school. Ashley, although the perfect Supreme face, she is onedimensional. Amanda on the other hand deserves to win because her profile is success on it's own! Kasia doesn't look 5'10 to me.

Oksana should have definitely made it. I don't get the idea, none of the girls who submitted "ordinary" photographs made it?! Was a professional shoot a requirement?

i want to echo kimair's question..

what was the point of voting?!
to draw attention to the competition and get everyone all riled up and spewing venom at each other in the comment section?

i don't get it... :ermm:

^Something like that :P

The winner of the most votes won a fashion shoot, but that's all the voting determined.

I think there were better candidates. And that's saying a lot, because there were only two or three girls in total that I actually liked.

Amanda's alright, though, and Ashley has Supreme potential. But what's the point of choosing a 13-year-old? For the competition, I mean. If they like her, they could just monitor her progress and sign her eventually anyway...

And I don't like how they're bending the rules for Kasia.
