Vogue Australia August 2016 : The Crown Prince & Princess of Denmark by Mario Testino

This shot looks perfect for a tabloid magazine, not for Vogue. I like both of them, but this shot just doesn't do it for me. It had so much potential, and I was actually excited for this. It's too gloomy, and it's not inviting. That pose would have been perfect if they (or she at least) were wearing something colorful (red or electric blue perhaps?). I wish I could see more leaves too add a bit of green in the background -- and what background is that? This doesn't look like a cover, it looks like an intro page for the editorial.

And let's not even begin with the layout. Vogue Australia, you found the perfect font and the perfect layout, why did you have to change it? The fonts add strength to the covers, and you chose a weak one, a very very weak one.

I'm disappointed only because Mary looks so wonderful in jewel tones and rich colors, black is the worst option for her. I really like this royal couple, and I am thrilled to see them on the cover instead of another Kardashian or Taylor Swift, but I wish it were more like the 2004 Regan Cameron cover.

Thank you guys, it makes more sense to me now.^_^

Don't get why they are on the Au issue either. I know Mario testino have taken new photos of them that's on display in a museum in Copenhagen. Usually love his pics but not those here!

I am Danish myself and those editorial pics there have been taken of Crown princess Mary over they years have only been allowed to be shown in Australia the last Vogue she did and also Women's Weekly last year, for some reason they are strictly off limits for the Danish magazines. Nope not a fan of this issue or the royals for that sake.

Mary has a "passion for sustainability in fashion, providing a voice to the voiceless and making her mark as a true world leader"? In which alternate universe? Is that how she's seen in Australia?

I second Juliefan's comments and will add that I find it strange how Mary and the family very rarely pose like this (and give large interviews to go) with the Danish press.

All I can think is: "who cares?"

Not impressed whatsoever by this, and I'd even say the cover is absolute rubbish! Testino's creditably and reputation as one of the top working photographers is totally lost here, since the shot resembles one of those cliché shots of a bridge and groom post-ceremony, taken by anyone with a camera - except both the Prince and Princess look more suited to attending a funeral here. Just very odd and low-budget looking! Not to mention how the Vogue masthead is lost due to the business of the background. Amazed to admit British Vogue done a far more superior job at profiling royalty this year.

Step it up, Vogue Australia.. standards are slipping!

Couldn´t have said it better myself, exaaactly ! But then again it was done by Testino. Are any of us expecting something better?

 No surprise there, you were opposed to this idea from the word go.

Maybe the reason why she doesn't do much press for the Danes is because there's no Vogue level magazine in the o****ry? I personally know that she's done a feature for for Elle Denmark.

She's also been on the cover of Dansk too, and most recently Eurowoman.

Thanks AL92, didn't know about these two. She is at least doing some press in Danmark. Probably Eurowoman boasts with a wider reach than Vogue.

Apparently Edwina McCann conducted the interview herself, wonder if that means she'll have written it for the magazine as well.
And Hello! have already started to pit Catherine's UK Vogue cover against this one.

 It would be interesting, at least, if they made the issue feel like an actual "Danish" issue.

Boooring issue. imo it´s not even worth buying to read on the beach...

Cover is a foldout with yet another terrible image.
Various reprints.
An interesting pictorial of Olympics athletes by Justin Ridler.
A dancer inspired editorial, like we´ve seen a million times before... Bianca Gittens and Lina Hoss by Alexi Lubomirsk. Styled by Natasha Royt.
