Vogue Paris April 2017 : Christy Turlington by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin

I like the editorials, but this magazine just feels like it's so old now.. 80's themed back to back.

I can appreciate that 'the 80s' is the magazine's pose - it means I know what I'm going to get, with good production values. There's something to be said for a publication that knows its own mind, instead of pandering to an instamodel demographic.

And it's good to draw on what's gone before, in terms of fashion. It's satisfying when someone can artfully weave in visual references from another time, or really get every detail right when interpreting a look in a more literal way.

However, I do ask myself, can Alt aim the content at the older adult without 'living in the past'? Because determined focus on a theme can often give rise to monotony, even in skilled hands.

And this means I can skip a few issues of Vogue Paris, and know that I haven't missed much. I could probably buy a May issue, and it'll pick up where the November issue left off, in terms of the stories being told. The outfits will have changed a little, but the clocks won't have been reset by that much.

I LOOOVE all the eds so far.
Faces is perfect. I was afraid at first because i'm not a big fan of Collier Schorr but Sasha and the styling are perfect.

La vie est un songe is so striking! I loved it.

I also love Cheese! I don't find it necessarly 80's...Yes, it has that spirit but the styling is a very classic french vision of sexy. Maybe we are too obsessed about the 80's...Emmanuelle comes from a generation for whom the 80's were the era of modernity in France. Her references are deeply rooted there. I don't mind it when it's well done and when there's some balance.

Beautiful eds so far ! Cheese is my favorite !!! The cast, the styling, the mood. La vie est un songe is beautiful as well. I wished Anastasia Barbieri was the fashion director at Vogue instead of Vogue Hommes -_-

Fantastic choices of models, great phographers !

I can't stand the 80's in Vogue Paris, it's so predictable and old old old ! The main edito has begun with a boring idea. Only Christy and Eva make it good.

Christy's ed is kind of nice. She looks gorg in the V&R pic. I think Eva is out of place... I like her as a person buy that mouth, my god.

SASHA! <3 unbelievable after all this time that she only has one cover for vogue paris. I also love Smile, if only because Christy and Eva are so stunning and have so much charisma to this day...my God can you imagine this story with Kendall and Gigi? Total pros are needed to pull this off and thank God vogue paris realized that

Not to be off topic, but does this mean people hate Terry Richardson as a person? Because the main editorial could definitely pass as some of his work, I just don't keep up with everything like I should.

To be honest that beauty ed by Charlotte Wales is an absolute treasure and she really captures that late 70's luxe without being too literal or cheesy.

Reminds me of the work I&V did with Chloé during the time Hanna MacGibbon was the creative director! I'll look forward to the days she starts to do main editorial work with the magazine alongside the big guns (having her and David Sims in one issue would be a dream!)

Pretty much. I don't think this is the result of that though, Terry had an editorial in the last issue.

Doesn't it seem crazy that Eva doesn't also have a cover?! I think I would feel a bit insulted if I were her.

Looks like a fantastic issue. It's a shame about the cover, there are much better options in the shoot than the one they went for but never mind.

Vittoria Ceretti editorial is spectacular! Here she reminds me a lot of Mariacarla Boscono!
Even Eva and Christy's ed is great!
My two fav stories of the whole issue!
