What is the "disco sl*t" look?

i think this will look very different from what we're expecting. i don't see the ironic/campy/brazen interpretation of the 70s that American Apparel has given us extending into fall. no way. i think most designers know better than to recycle that crap.

I would be hoping for a Scavullo/Bill King style disco sl*t  (Scans from 1979/1980, ph: Francesco Scavullo/Beverly Johnson, Gordon/Sandy Linter, Unk/Bitten Knudsen)

Wow, I'm really hoping this turns out to be better than it sounds. I'm imagining girls in white halter tops, glo-mesh and cork platform shoes.

egh... hate seventies, it's my least favourite era to revisit.

wowza!!! thank god it's not that vintage 70s we had at the beginning of this decade but the glam side of the 70s!!

this is hot haha!! its like a different interpretation of the 70s for women and i can definitely see fashion going toward this. This nu-wave dressing right now is definitely the bridge to this! this is going to be huge.

and YSL's MEN'S fw08/9 goes really well to complement this!!!!

I'M LOVIN' IT EVEN MORE. BRING ON THE 70S AGAIN HAHA!!

:woot::woot::woot::woot::woot:

i love the 70s, but like in any decade there are good stuff and bad stuff. debbie and bowie are among the great ones!!!

NOOO....right now that whole 60s mod hangover is still there , more cutsy with flats , baby doll tops and skinnies ..this year you will see a shift to more waist concious clothes and tight tops.

let me go tell my friends. They are OVER baby doll tops now lol. This look may help bring higher waisted looks in.

Also looks like colors are here to stay!!

Ha. What a funny thread. When I first read it I immediately thought of Roller Girl in the movie Boogie Nights. I'm thinking it's probably along the same lines as what American Apparel seems to associate itself with, that whole 70s p*rn look but maybe more glamourous.

oohh gawd! i hope we don't see these in the clubs! (or on the street). Can you imagine girls TRYING to pull these off thinking they look hot?! yuck! :yuk:

I though I was going to hate this, but I love that gray ant image...

no those high waist spandex shorts are not disco sl*t , they are east hollywood hooker , disco sluts are sophisticated . The grey ant photo and those pix from the late 70s cosmo are more on the mark.

I'm definately liking more grey ant than that hooker look.

sounds a lot like tom ford for gucci...:innocent:...

The title of this thread, has given me manic depression.

I imagine girls decked out head-to-toe in shiny American Apparel merchandise :innocent:

Hah! Exactly what I thought as well. AA will be making a lot (more) money this season...

disco sl*t doesnt mean cheap 10 dollar hookers from hollywood , the look is more high class call girl who would hang out in the discos in the late 70s and early 80s
If that's true, "disco sl*t" is a really craptacular name! Also, I can definitely see scenesters renaming it "disko sl*t" as they did with "new (cough, nu) rave."
