I also recommend the August issue of W, with Scarlett Johansson on the cover. The autumn-winter ads are fabulous, but one great ad that is not receiving enough attention is Luca G in Hugo Boss. This is Luca's third consecutive Hugo Boss campaign, but the style of photography is different this time around. As opposed to the plain white studio shoot in the previous two campaigns, there appears to be a story and the tone is sensual. Better than Eugenia Volodina's ad for Fendi, imo. It also feat. a black-and-white editorial with Guinevere Van Seenus (whose new Marc Jacobs perfume "Blush" ad is gorgeous) that has the mode looking better than average, and a tabloid-styled ed following Sienna Miller and Jude Law.

UK Elle July (Dido cover) and UK Elle August (Christina Ricci cover) are both grave disappointments. The Ricci issue contains an editorial of "Secretary Chic" that is alright upon first look, but bland and lifeless upon closer inspection. Seeing how major this trend will become, I am confident that we will see better in Vogue soon.

Julia Stegner has a lovely cover for Nippon Vogue August, and also a black-and-white editorial by Tesh, wearing mainly skirt separates (see here). While I think some pictures are lovely, she's shot a superior black-and-white editorial with Michael Thompson for the June W, albeit with coats instead of skirts (see here), and lest not forget her black-and-white collaboration with Mert & Marcus for W last October (see here). But these are two of my favorite editorials involving Julia: for Numero March, by Greg Kadel and for Vogue Nippon 04/04, by Terry Tsiolis.

I will get to take a look at Vogue Nippon Sept. hopefully this weekend, and I hear Alessandra Ambrosio has a 8-pg Armanie Exchange insert in the J-Lo Marie Claire. US Elle with Jessica Simpson on the cover is out too.

Mario Sorrenti shot the cover and the accompanying editorial, "The Fall." I have to do a double take to make sure that this is not Nicole Kidman. The sexiest red-heads are both going blonde.

And W cannot resist Michael Thompson. He gets a piece of Julianne too:

Heh, by the time I go back to my residency and restart school, October magazines would be waiting in the wings, not to mention SS04 Collections Week!
