we do need new blood.... but not the copy cats....

I could see someone like Giambattista valli for Dior. I really hope tisci won't leave givenchy or elbaz lanvin...

My heart can't take all of this news.
Where did the rumour of Alber be replaced by Jason Wu come from !?

At first, the rumours were great and fun, but now they are just sick and I feel drained.

no more Lanvin by Alber Elbaz will absolutely break my heart!

i guess the Mayan calender was right with 2012, but not the world will end, but the fashion world as we know it. it's scary D:

Of all the designers in the world, why place Riccardo at Dior? I just don't see a connection there at all (from an aesthetic point of view). And Jason Wu for Lanvin? I love Jason Wu but the rumor of him going to Lanvin has to be the worst idea ever.

Why move Elbaz from Lanvin at all?! He's PERFECT for Lanvin.

Totally agree, in regards to the rumours of Jason Wu. He's a fantastic designer, but I feel he is not yet seasoned enough to take the helm of Lanvin. Alber has single-handedly rebuilt the brand from the ground up, setting the bar infinitely high to match. I feel like Alber has given a new definition of glamour, and a signature with his work at Lanvin that all of us are not prepared to let go of. Let's just hope that, if he does move to Chanel, we get the same magic, beauty, and energy that he's graciously given us season after season at Lanvin.

With regards to Tisci, there isn't a blatant connection to Dior, and what we feel the brand represents. But, Riccardo is, safe to say, a brilliant designer, and has the skills/ability to adapt. I feel like those of us who initally (or still do) oppose his move to Dior, are focusing on his RTW collections and the dark, religious, romantic aesthetic he's delivered, but have forgotten about his work for his well-received Haute Couture collections. Looking at those alone, I feel Riccardo will bring a new light to Dior, in the best way possible.

Some advice for Riccardo: If you really want to keep everyone happy, start/restore your own line :D

^^^ You're right about Jason and many others mentioned on this thread. He's definitely getting his "sea legs" if you will. The Sisters Mulleavy even more so IMHO. I know the temptation would be to replace an initially raw talent (ie Galliano) w/ another raw talent, but Galliano worked fully 10 years to great acclaim before LVMH got him. Many of the younger names mentioned have neither that experience yet and frankly the depth/versatility that young Galliano or McQ showed.

This whole sitch has really shown the strengths/weaknesses of the various fashion cities. The US and UK have tons of untapped and growing talent that could be called up for big label duty, but this has revealed Paris' talent pool is actually quite slight and not very versatile. There seems to be an absence of up-and-comers as well as a lack of little the known but growing talents quietly building their skills/brand in the middle of the curve. If it weren't for the Belgians and UK trained designers, where would Paris be even now?

I'm starting to think we're seeing an entire retrenchment of the talent pool and fashion cities. I may be wrong tho, but these next few months will determine the long term future methinks.

I love Olivier Theyskens dearly and see great things ahead, but he needs this job like he needs another hole in his head! Nah, he needs a steady gig for a bit. It'll hone his immense talent even further and really make him a force to be reckoned w/ once he proves he can move clothes in retail.

Crazily enough, perhaps Rick Owens might be a decent choice for some big label in this game of "musical designers". He's got serious chops and I wonder what he could do if he had a whole toy store at his disposal?

People please. Rumors about Lagerfeld leaving Chanel have been going around for, literally, YEARS AND YEARS. Not a season goes by without people saying it's his last. I don't know how many times I've read that "next year is Karl's last year at Chanel because he's not renewing his contract." It's even hilarious.

Where did the rumour of Alber be replaced by Jason Wu come from !?

It came after seeing Jason Wu at the front row of Lanvin's latest show ( he was invited by Lanvin house's owner) and the same (or next) day Style.com tweeted, "Not to add to the Dior rumor mill, but people in Paris are asking, why has the Lanvin team been in tears all day?". So that rumor is combination of these two stories.

Thanks. That's very strange ^^
Hope is not true !

I keep reading and reading every blog and magazine news report, it all says the same..Tisci is confirmed to take over Dior, but no confirmation has been made by Tisci himself nor has Dior said anything....soo were still good ppl, Tisci still might stay at Givenchy, and whats this about Jason Wu, I mean i love Alber and i think he has redefined Lanvin under his own vision, I could not see it ever changing after him, but if i had to choose someone Wu would be a powerful candidate. His clothes are elegant, chic, and sophisticated enough

With all these rumours and news, I really feel like calling Riccardo and asking him what the hell is he going to do.

Oh, and that Jason Wu x Lanvin rumour is plain ridiculous. Same category as Zac Posen for Dior.

I don't see anyone better than Olivier Theyskens for the job. Alber and Ricardo are doing amazing jobs in their houses, they neeed stay there. Olivier is a brilliant designer, and i think he'll do an amazing job at Dior.

He seems to be happy at Theory, and a happy Olivier is pretty rare...

I saw it from internet, it's offically that Riccardo Tiscci and Carine Roitfeld are working on Dior together and Haider is working on Givenchy. it's from a frecnh website, so probably it's ture
