Dior of today is feminine in a dragqueen/prostitute kind of way, predatorily sexy and euro-trashy. If this is "visionary" I don't think I want to see what the future looks like.
Christian Dior's style was very softly feminine, subtly sexy, slightly sculptural, discreetly luxurious. The complete opposite of Galliano's Dior.
Dior of today would probably have been more like a mixture of Yohji Yamamoto, Jil Sander and Prada.

Thanks for clearing that up for metott said:Well... Christian Dior shocked the world with his "new look" and went on from there, maybe a bit like the Japanese revolutionized fashion in the 80's?
Dior wasn't about sex and cleavage really. There were others who were during his heyday, fashion has always had a "sexy" side. (And I'm not saying that it's a bad thing in itself, but it can be done more or less tastefully.)

gallianoboy said:I don't understand when Galliano puts out something like the couture egyptian show people say its unwearable, flashy garbage...and yet he made ready to wear spring/summer 06 (nude collection) and critics said it was low key, and uninspiring....He's covered all ends of the fashion spectrum, if you hate him so much why bother starting a thread on how you hate his work for Dior....why do you care? if you dont like a designer's work simply don't wear it, Do you honestly go into the Dior boutique and say to yourself "This stuff is garbage, If Dior were living today he wouldn't be doing this" you sound so lame....there are many designers i don't like, but who cares, i don't wear their stuff and don't shop in their stores...It's because of Galliano that Dior is as big as it is. And as i mentioned before, when it's all said and done John Galliano's name will be remembered for his work for Christian Dior, than Christian Dior himself!!! You can't get any bigger than that!!
P.S....and yes I'm one of those people who front at the clubs, wearing Galliano Gazette from head to toe!!!
