Why do you like/hate Dior?

I can see why people don't like it but i think its really creative and...i dont know....its really amazing and different and it really works in my eyes.

i love the FALL DIOR INCREDIBLE ONE OF HIS BEST COLLECTIONS VERY LUXE!!! His bags arent good anymore hasnt put a good one out since the Dior Saddle Bag

^ Yeah, now all he can do is make a saddle bag in every colour logo possible

I'm not a fan of Dior, it just seems unclassy and tacky. I like it circa 1940/50, when the house produced classic designs etc, but when I think of it now I think of footballers wives and people with fake/real saddlebags.

I don't think he is really going for "classy."

I'm sorry - but Dior is not Dior. There is not one person on this Earth that can truthfully say it is. Galliano's Dior has nothing to do with the true one.

As to the lovely lace collection, that's all pure, 100% marketing - it's not Galliano showing a new side of himself.

As to the man/woman behind the label - my words are too rude to post.

Well, you can say all of this about Galliano, and remember how Dior would have been the Galliano of his day, what it is to us will be different to what it was to them...

I'm not so sure that Dior would've been the Galliano of his day... I've heard this argument used before, that Dior was a leader and a visionary who wasn't afraid to push boundaries...

Dior of today is feminine in a dragqueen/prostitute kind of way, predatorily sexy and euro-trashy. If this is "visionary" I don't think I want to see what the future looks like.

Christian Dior's style was very softly feminine, subtly sexy, slightly sculptural, discreetly luxurious. The complete opposite of Galliano's Dior.

Dior of today would probably have been more like a mixture of Yohji Yamamoto, Jil Sander and Prada.

Nice! I may want to immortalize that in my signature. :p

Well... Christian Dior shocked the world with his "new look" and went on from there, maybe a bit like the Japanese revolutionized fashion in the 80's?

Dior wasn't about sex and cleavage really. There were others who were during his heyday, fashion has always had a "sexy" side. (And I'm not saying that it's a bad thing in itself, but it can be done more or less tastefully.)

:flower:

I have to agree that non of his clothes are wearable but do u see anyone wearing his clothes, no?

People go to his shows just to see what he has created...not to buy anything, he knows that too.

Thanks for clearing that up for me :flower:

Dior is ugliness so pure that Galliano changes it every season, and his models still look like hussies. Which just goes to show there's more than one way to skin a cat, and almost infinite ways in which John's fevered brain can conjure up new clothes to look like a tart...

I don't understand when Galliano puts out something like the couture egyptian show people say its unwearable, flashy garbage...and yet he made ready to wear spring/summer 06 (nude collection) and critics said it was low key, and uninspiring....He's covered all ends of the fashion spectrum, if you hate him so much why bother starting a thread on how you hate his work for Dior....why do you care? if you dont like a designer's work simply don't wear it, Do you honestly go into the Dior boutique and say to yourself "This stuff is garbage, If Dior were living today he wouldn't be doing this" you sound so lame....there are many designers i don't like, but who cares, i don't wear their stuff and don't shop in their stores...It's because of Galliano that Dior is as big as it is. And as i mentioned before, when it's all said and done John Galliano's name will be remembered for his work for Christian Dior, than Christian Dior himself!!! You can't get any bigger than that!!

P.S....and yes I'm one of those people who front at the clubs, wearing Galliano Gazette from head to toe!!!

I don't think we're all offering our opinions solely based on the HC presentations, but also PAP and what we see in stores...

And you are of course also free to chime in, but please remember that we're only sharing opinions and not facts! This is not a war. ;)

Gallianoboy if I really hated the guy and wanted to mock him I would in a way unimaginable to yu, I could easily make the "Hate Dior Club" but it just happens to be that I'm decent enough not to, so before you go pretending to kow what I think of John make sure you know what this forum is called: "Why do you like/hate Dior?" Think about it Gallianoboy or should I say Gullable boy
