thanks runner!

that's funny---
i recently got a sweater in very similar plaid pattern ...
it's +noir...

i just wore it on thanksgiving...
^_^...

the cardigan looks quite nice in that photo by leslie kee...
he seems to be doing a lot with yohji these days...

i also have to say that the interiors of all the shops really remind me of the NYC shop...
the industrial open space is very much like a loft space in soho or tribeca...
kind of ironic since the NYC store is no longer there...

but it makes me feel very comfortable in the space because it is somehow familiar to me...

i don't know if they have always been like that all over the world...
but it is how i have always been familiar with viewing and shopping for yohji's designs...
i was told that he liked everything to be in this one big space - all white- like a gallery...

that it was how he felt the clothes could best be viewed...
so it makes sense to see it like this, even in tokyo...

i really like it...

thanks for sharing runner!

you are welcome softgrey
the +noir sweater looks great on you.
it would also be nice to wear it on sumowatching.

the syte cardigan already sold out in spite of a new arrival. the syte pieces are sort of easier to wear and the prices are good.
I guess they will produce the second batch soon. rather they must be able to do it with flexibility, especially because this is their online business experiment which is more about selling what customers want than selling what they YY inc make.

leslie kee did some campaign images for the main line S/S 2014 as well which you would see at parco etc these days.
will post if I find them online.

yes I think it's basically white in the store space. but sometimes it goes on the opposite side, for example around 2005-7, if I remember rightly.

runner---
thanks for the comment on the sweater~!
it's from the outlet, so thanks very much for guiding me there...
i do enjoy yohji knits!

re: s'yte
i think the men's deck pants are amazing and will be so good on you!
they are one of the best things i've seen in a very long time...

this henley- (which, they call henry on the site, and i just realised that this is the same thing - just "japanified"...!!!)
is another great thing, imo...
i love the long hem...and it's no secret that i always love a henley/henry!...
...

i also think this big T quite special...it has a nice feeling of hagoromo...
:magic:...

http://syte.yohjiyamamoto.co.jp

though- overall- i think they seem to be focusing more on the menswear with this project...
i was going to order some stuff, but i didn't find enough things that i really love to make it worth the effort while i was only there for a short time...

i look forward to your report if you get something...
:flower:

how cool are these jeans...?!
maybe the best jeans EVER!!!

i think i could just live in these---and i do NOT wear jeans!

so many really covetable things this season...

farfetch is making me so happy right now!!!
they do a really nice job of styling too...which is so nice for a change!

i think i made a big mistake not getting these...
...:ermm:......

they haunt me almost every single day...
*sigh*

nani! my comment's fault :ninja:
they don't produce that type of jeans this season while levis red may have something similar.

I have been hoping a physical shop for syte will pop up but no luck so far.

you look super cool in the suspender pants like a realistic cartoon hero, or it's more like you look cooler in them in reality than any cartoon heroes.

well- i confess that your comment did influence me...
that is why i looked for them while i was in tokyo, so i could try them in person and see how they were...
but they were gone and there was nothing else denim like that...

that is how i wound up getting the black pants with the stripes at the waist...
then i thought about it and i think the cut of both pants is probably similar...
probably the black ones are also meant to be more on the hips, but because my hips curve, they sit higher on me, closer to my waist...
probably this is how the jeans would also have fit me and i think i would have liked that...

you are right...
the levis red line does seem to have a couple of pairs of high waisted, loose, cropped pants...
they seem quite nice, with the silk lining and all...
but the colour of the denim is really different...

i'm glad you like the big pants...
when i was in the store in mini aoyama, i styled them with a tank top and then i put a sort of henley cardigan on top and a wide brim hat...
the sales girl was like...
...
she said they would never even think of styling them that way...
i guess you know yohji, always with a white shirt...
i asked her to tell him that he has to come up with some other ideas for those of us who don't like white shirts...
^_^

^ naruhodo
asked the outlet if they have the jeans there now, but they didn't have anything denim of that kind of style.
the sales person said YY homme could have some this spring. btw, that person was male, so now they have more of YY homme as well even though it's under the store nams of Y's. also seems like Y's for men is going to be revived next season, which means they are to have the newborn Y's for men too one year later there.

some current options, just for reference
tsubu tsubu (dotted) denim and elastin denim from mercibeaucoup
wool linen denim from tricot

good idea to check the outlet...
i guess they sold well...

i was hoping they would do something similar again, since it seemed like they sold ok...
thanks very much for checking that~!
...

men's could be interesting...
there was hardly any men's at the outlet when i was there...
i did get a men's scarf for my dad though and my friend got a sweater for her husband...
selection was extremely limited though...

a relaunch of Y's for mens sounds like a good idea...
i had not realized there was no Y's for men...

good to know...thanks again runner!

i was actually really surprised by the jeans i posted here...
i don't usually think of YY for denim...
and it just seemed like such a beautiful wash on the denim...
i rarely get excited over denim...

CDG is another good idea...
wish i liked those junya patchwork jeans for this season...
but i really don't like the shape of them...

i finally wore a cotton blazer which i purchased at the outlet...
such an excellent purchase...
so basic, but such a great fit...
which makes it so comfortable and so chic...
his tailoring is really remarkable...

amazing dress...
i'm keeping an eye out for this item...
haven't seen it anywhere yet, though...
these sandals are pretty great too...
not sure which i like more- these or the birks...

i love all of these looks - but the dress is just like a dream...
seems so effortless and relaxed in a terribly chic and sexy way...
the other two looks are more dramatic...
but - oh!, how cool they are...

apologies for butting in out of nowhere...

but isn't this that exact dress, only in a camo print? and with a very different fit somehow?

it's def better in the black. :ninja:
interesting that +Noir is no longer being sold as such, at least in the US...

nice to see laika

softgrey, looking forward to the cotton blazer on you!

they on the barneys site are from regulation. they don't have them over here yet, but only one shop is to receive them. so they will become rare items in japan.

the dress is wool rayon rather sheer and soft, and comes only in black.
they also have a variation of the dress which is a bit shorter in skirt length and a bit wider in belt width. probably that is the one in camo at barneys.
it comes in rayon 100 black as well.

OH. MY. GOD. > !!!

...

how is that the same dress?!
and how did they mess that up so royally?!
and who would pick the camo if you could have the black?!
sometimes i wonder how barney's sells anything...
*shakes head*

but then they have that other look and i am all confused...
and how is it that hardly anyone in japan is carrying that?!?
wtf is going on with the world?!
......

thanks for the link- laika...
i thought of you when i posted the dress, remembering how much you liked it as well...
nice to see you, as runner says...
:flower:

and thanks for the info runner...
looks like i better get myself over to barney's pretty soon!

stupid barneys...
looks like the pants are already sold out!
...

...

just posting this here because it is some of the best styling of yohji yamamoto by any retailer that i have ever seen...
i love every single piece in this look and i love the way they put it together...
those pants are so great when they are in motion...
and i love the white laces on the black sneakers...

turns out that one of the Y's pieces i got at the outlet is this cropped linen vest...
i wore it over a sleeveless black dress back when it was still warm in tokyo...

^that is a lucky find then

so you went to barneys and saw the dress and the blouse etc?
how were they?

the lapelled top seems to look better, worn in a bit more slouchy way, in comparison with the fit on the runway.
and also the gauzy insert together with the laces slightly thicker and much longer, all those elements as an anti-stabilizer could make subjective or emotional intervention in his designs easier and somewhat more profound.

big images if you're interested

thank you, runner and softgrey. it's so nice to see both of you!
i'm in a work/writing cave at the moment, aiming to emerge with spring, if it ever comes.

that ivory popover top is an absolute dream and quintessentially YY
at his best for me. it's like a hybrid of schoolgirl and henley reworked
in such a way that it draws out the inherently feminine lines of both.
i'm sure it looks amazing in person.

also, very good vest, softgrey--it reminds me of something from Ann (?)
that you already have in your closet. :D
