Your personal fashion rules

1 - Nothing too trendy or showy.
2 - Keep logo's to a minimum.
3 - Always be immaculately groomed.

* Not to care about whether people like your style or not.

* Do not buy anything that is "in" or "trendy" unless you really like it.

* Never look too "classical" or "older than your years" unless it's a special occassion. I'm only young, I want to have fun with clothes. If I do choose a classical piece, then I mix it with something more laid back.

* Wear things that fit nicely (unless the "model" of the article of clothing is supposed to be slouchy or bagg).

my personal rules are...

- always dress like a lady; nothing too low cut, too short, or remotely sl*tty.
- always try to wear at least one vintage piece/accessory
- avoid anything with logos, excepting jeans since they all have a tags on the bum anyway so you can't really do anything about it.
- natural fibres.
- everything must fit. no spandex in jeans, among other things.
- don't be a designer snob. it's tacky. I respect the person who can look stunning in an outfit composed entirely from thrifting finds and tj maxx.
- don't be a high fashion snob. it's just not friendly.
- don't accept being ignored/overlooked just because you don't dress like a kate moss wannabe.
- beauty and grace is more important than how you're dressed.

enrichi, sephora, brotha g, utopia, twilight fairy...

what wonderful ideas you all have... :flower:

very stylish...

1. nothing too tight. ever

2. easy on the make up, beautiful glowing skin is the best make up you can have

3. splurge on classic timeless pieces instead of trendy ones

4. mix and match classic timeless pieces with items of current trend

5. more isn't always better, sometimes its just more. so keep it simple

6. make sure your clothes are nicely ironed / cleaned. wrinkled shirt looks sloppy

7. white pumps don't go with black slacks, no matter what season

8. every day items such as solid color tees, tanks, etc etc, you don't have to spend a lot on, you can get great quality at cheaper prices ; however, items like cashmere, evening wear, coats, suits. etc etc. you get what you pay for, so don't be cheap.

9. don't just be a trend fellower, develope your own personal style

10. rock it with confidence.

- Nothing with stretch in it, jeans, tops, skirts, whatever, has to pass the tug-test before purchase
- If it's featured in a teen rag it's not an option
- If it's 'flirty' or 'whimsical' it has no place on my body
- Nothing with a drawing on it
- Before it leaves the store, I have to be able to imagine what I'll wear it with
- If it's expensive, it must be paired with something cheap
- No fake vintage, nothing I could do easily on my own

I don't like calling them rules, more like guidelines :)

1.Not too many colors!

2.Not too many accesories, if I'm wearing a showy hairpin and a neclase then either a not too showy earrings or no earings and not two neclases at once.

3. never ever showy socks with open heels.

4. I like my jewelry to match the color of the clothes I'm wearing, either a same color or a color that fits well. (orange-green blue-pink)

5. I want my bag to match my outfit

6. Don't overdo it, I want to look good but not like I'm going to a prom or something.

7. If I want to be vintage I try to do it my own way, mix it with my own stile, don't want to get stuck back in time ;)

8. Accessories!!! I love them and do not want to leave the house with out any, usually I wear some I've made, and I allways wear a neclase, feel naced without it.

9. Dress acording to the weather! Wearing a miniskirt and a tank top when there's snow and frost outside is desperat atentionseeking and stupid! (I've seen a girl do it!) If I want to wear a skirt then I wear thick stockings, leg warmers, a sweater over the tank top high boots, a scarf and a jacket!

10. Allways wear tank tops, I sweat a lot and when I'm wearing longsleeved shirts ir t-shirts I get a big marks under my arms and it's not pretty! It's hard but I have to :(

11. I often wear button sweaters with pins and If I want to wear a derorative pin I never put it in the middle of my sweater, try to get it to the side and never butten up the sweater.

My biggest thing is dont over accessorize. Thats a big NO,NO. iT MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE YOURE TRYING TOO HARD.

Wear something unique

Wear what feels comfortable

Wear what makes me feel confident

and wear whatever makes me look better than the b*tch standing next to me.

ahah YES!!! This is my new style mantra. I also agree with the don't over accessorize one...IMHO the only accessory a man truly needs is his watch (and glasses if you need 'em, a scarf if it's cold)

I'm going to have to disagree with you here, and say that I think piling on accessories can be interesting and fun and quirky. It's all about HOW you do, rather than WHAT you do.

P.S.
Love for the softie!

I'm sure everyone has certain rules on things when it comes to fashion. What are your personal rules when it comes to fashion? Like never wear jean jacket with jeans, etc.

This is my problem. I love my denim jacket but never wear it as I don't think it looks good with anything I have. What do you wear yours with?

My rule of life applies to clothing, too.

It's for me, not you.

Love that!
