Yves Saint Laurent S/S 10 Paris

why is everyone hating on this? that strawberry skirt is pretty bad, ok, but the rest doesnt seem disastrous

Beyond the strawberries, I'm still disappointed by what I am seeing.

My problem with Stefano for the past couple of years is that his collections have turned ice cold. Where is the passion, the sexiness, the irreverent sense of humor, the color that his earlier collections once possessed? Even his clerical collection was more sensual than anything he's done as of late.:innocent:

I almost fell asleep on my keyboard while scrolling it's sooooo dull.
How can a house with so much history, FANTASTIC archives and atelier hands, THE best materials and embroideries make such poorly designed and finished matronly looks.
Where is the fashion and style!
I am giving up on the season....

i actually like the strawberries :ninja: people's clothes are too serious. i remember Hubert de Givenchy also had embroidered lemons and tomatoes on organdy skirts back in the 50s. must had been all the rage then

i wish Stefano put more on the long white skirt. seems to be only 4 or 5 strawberries..

ITA. :D

I like the strawberries, too - they're fun.

Fashion shouldn't just be a constant stream of restrained pieces, it should be fun and extrovert, too; otherwise, what's the point?

There again, I like fruit motifs, for some reason; I have a Chloe banana clutch and jewellery with banana charms.

It appears to be a bit of a trend this season - Moschino C & C had bananas and another label had some other kind of fruit (I forget who and what kind it was?!). :D

the strawberry dress actually looked quite cute in person. maybe it just doesnt translate well to a photograph...?

i really loved some of his pieces that havent even been uploaded yet. so just wait, because there are some beautifullllllll things. :)

While it is entertaining to mock the strawberry shortcake aspect of this I don't think that this is a particularly bad collection. Granted, we haven't gotten all the pictures just yet but I feel there is a lot to enjoy amidst this semi cluttered landscape. There is a crispness to the all white pieces - very spring, perhaps a little Spanish influenced with their frills and flounces. The cornflower blue dress and top - the lightness of the fabrics overall. Those very prim polka dotted pieces that would look right at home in Betty Draper's closet. I think once we are given the full show there is going to be a great deal to enjoy. This all strikes me as very Springy and such a welcome respite from the greys and blacks Stefano has been using.

I don't agree with that. I think you can only really look to the future by looking in the past a little... and that's just in general.

i understand that an appreciation from the past is needed to progress, but with that said- all this revisiting in collections, the 80's revival too, i wonder if it is true originality or a mask for unoriginality. i understand the appreciation factor for the past, i just dont feel its necessary to keep referrencing through collections by recreating. its like, seriously- let move forward with something new. i see your point & understand it completely. i stand behind my statement with further clarification, as read above.

after all the graphic he gave me for the last seasons. i'm a bit sad he's back to his early days at YSL.
waiting to see the full collection, but i think i'll need time to digest this show (and it's not even the cherries or whatever it is).

nice to see taz has brought a lesson of YSL history. again.

Hate to break it to you, but there is nothing new. :)

Not really.

One or two nice pieces. The rest is dreck, but that is just me. I do like most of YSL work, but it seems since his passing everything has gone down hill :(
