Alice Temperley for Target

the collection was unveiled to editors and other folks last night in new york.
i guess we've got to be blog stalking to find images...

i dont think images will be up on targets website for another two months.

you know,i have to agree with the minority....this whole thing is getting really, really tedious now. you know at first,it felt a bit exclusive and slightly interesting but now i feel it's getting disgustingly banal--and just too much. and the clothes,i hated everything i've seen in every collection so far. absolutely terrible. i know i said some things about the libertine stuff but having seen every collection,i am not looking forward to anything anymore. it's just names on cheaply made crap, basically.

^^ HOORAY! Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to take a looksie now. :flower:

Can a mod correct the title of the thread from "Temperly" to "Temperley"? I tried searching this earlier, could not find it and thought of creating a new thread.

I second this request. Thanks in advance, mods. :flower: :)

you have to consider the point of view of the designer when approached with this sort of opportunity. while these diffusions lines may cheapen the rarity of a designer item, imagine the ease of producing something with target. they cover everything, samples, fabric, production. doo ri said she loved collaborating with gap because she could focus on the design and not have to worry about the rest. and while yes the design can be compromised because of the target market when it works it can be great.

i go back and forth on this all time. i think the collaborations from gap and uniqlo are more respectable than target because i don't think that fashionista/trendy image is attached. what i think needs to change is the hype and idea of limited quantity. good design should just be accessible all the time and not a rarity, i think that's something that greatly differeniates america (and possibly england) from the rest of europe.

maybe the price of designer goods should just be re-evaluated...

i can't wait to see the campaign!

It's all black!! That's disappointing. I was looking forward to some colorful patterns, still I think there are a couple of good pieces.

That maxi-dress would be perfect if it came out now. I think it'll be too cold for that dress when it comes out.

I'm surprised to see so much black in there, however I need those cropped black pants NOW. Ditto for the velvet pieces. Add the military jacket in and we've got what could be some nice pieces.

It's also different to me because it's more expensive than many of the others but I hope that quality goes up.

I’m curious to see the pieces from Looks 1, 8, 12, and 18 in person.

Here are the images collaged in order by Look number:

oooh, i like it! seems like there could be something for everyone in this...and personally i love the restricted color palette...

Oh wow! This is so much better than the Libertine stuff. I see lots of stuff I want. If Target keeps this up I won't have to get my clothes anywhere else.

i'm liking what I'm seeing already! i can't wait, lots of clothes suitable for the 9-5 haha!

So it's gonna happen again. Everyone gets way excited two designers before. We want everything. By the time it comes out, then we see it, no one wants it anymore.

Now, what Target needs, is to do a series with Missoni. Now that would be good.
