^ hope not from your description... i ordered it cause it was one of the 4-5 pieces from this collection that intrigued me at the beginning. the sleeves are different from what i can tell from the pics, but the target pics are horrible online!

i dunno, maybe it wont bug you...im a textile connoisseur...i work at a fabric store....im like addicted to exspensive textiles....it's like an addiction....so im very picky about clothing i buy and the fabric it's made out of...

^^ yeah, i like expensive fabrics too, so i may be disappointed. particularly gross in this temperley line (to me at least) was the crepe jacket and knickers, the mini skirt and the long pants, they were just yucky polyester!

I tried on a few things the other day. Was not terribly impressed overall.

The black crepe long-sleeved dress didn't look good on me. I felt the neckline was not cut low enough and the hemline was cut too short. The heavy crepe material was quite conservative, but the hemline, though not obscenely short, made the dress too short to wear to work. I don't think the proper balance of sexy and prim was struck in this case. I'm petite all over, and I think it would probably look better on a taller, medium-busted girl, and definitely with heels (like in that Style Diary photo posted upthread). It's a shame, because I loved the Victorian details like the long cuffs and rows of cloth-covered buttons.

I also tried on the short-sleeved gray thermal dress. It looked cheap and infantilizing. I picked it up figuring it could be a good throw-on-and-go dress for errands, but decided I wouldn't wear it even for that.

Also tried the crochet sweater vest. This seemed to be of decent quality. I liked the idea of layering it over a button-down shirt, but found the knit was too thin. If I'm going to layer a sweater on top of a blouse with buttons, I like the knit to be thick enough so the lumps and bumps don't show through. I also wished the vest was cut a bit longer in the torso.

Needless to say, I didn't buy any of these items.

keep in mind ya'll that alot of designers are using poly in their clothes this season.

derek lam for example...charging $1300 for a jacket that is poly blend.

its going with the industrial type thing.

not saying I like poly....but....alot of high end designers are using it.

Agree. Prada & Moschino have been using polyester ( both poly blends & 100% poly) for several seasons. They just call it techno-fabric and charge 2K+ for it...

But if you like expensive fabric why are you buying cheap target clothes...?

i'm not saying that i love poly clothes but sometimes i don't mind it since i think it holds its shape better..
and if high-end designers can charge that much, we should be lucky to be paying a fraction of the price for a 'of-the-moment' piece
i don't work in the fashion industry but isn't there only one type of poly??? or is there high end and low end poly??

i think you misunderstood my post-- there are some real finds and nice designs at target, but some of the items I did not buy are particularly bad, which is why i DID NOT buy them.

But if you like expensive fabric why are you buying cheap target clothes...?

actually, every once in a while, target lines (mossimo, issac, etc) have nice pieces. They are capable of doing things in silks, cashmere's and cotton/rayon blends and not charge an arm and a leg for it. Issac mizrahi's line is actually good for the nicer quality fabrics.

and with more and more luxury designers using crappy poly or synthetic blends in their collections, sometimes i think sometimes your paying for the label minus the quality.

i am very dissapointed with that fact. i think it partailly has to do with the homages to the 70's too in many collections, that the designers are giving a heads up to the popular knitwear of the 1970's. although i personally cannot stand the stuff. doesn't wear well, doesn't wash well, and i feel like my skin cant breathe in the stuff! if i ever find something i like, i always check the fiber content, and it automatically goes back if it has polyester in it...

I tried on some of the new pieces today. The blue military jacket (I don't think it's at target.com yet) is really cute, but the sleeves were too long, the shoulders were just a wee bit too big and the fabric was a tad stiff for me. It had some very nice princess seaming which was very flattering, though. You might size down on this one, or maybe it's just my skinny shoulders and midget arms.

The balloon-sleeve top is great - I bought it in the bright blue even though I already got the navy, although it might go back. It drapes so nicely and the bright blue is very striking.

I bought the sweater dress online yesterday, but when it was at Target I tried it on anyway. I LOVE the sleeves on this - the creme cuffs with the black buttons and the balloon sleeves are beautiful. The fabric is pretty nice and soft, too. What I didn't like about it is that the neck is nowhere near as scooped as it appears on all the models. I'm a bit big in the chest, and I think the neckline should be a little lower to be flattering on me, but I will make up my mind for sure when the one I ordered gets here...

^Thank you, both of you! One thing I thought was nice about the dress is that all the creme accents are outlined in gold thread. It's subtle but quite pretty. I suspect I will keep the dress once it gets here, even though I wish the neckline was different. For $50 it's still a nice dress and would be pretty toasty if paired with some tights.
