Touched by an Angel
In the spirit of Howard Stern's switch to satellite radio, Victoria's Secret had found a way to side-step the stodgy mores of the FCC: It's taking its acts of titillation directly to the people with the first Angels Across America nationwide tour. The lingeriemaker's last runway fashion extravaganza, which aired in April on CBS, prompted outcry from some viewers and accusations or indecent exposure. As a result, the network's parent company, Viacom, will air the next broadcast on its cable property, VH1, which is not federally regulated. This year, rather than filming the angels together on one runway, the cameras will follow Tyra Banks, Gisele Bundchen, Adriana Lima, Heidi Klum and Alssandra Ambrosio as they jet bewteen store appearances in New York, Miami, Las Vegas (where they will be inducted to the Hard Rock Hall of Fame) and Los Angeles. The hour-long special airs on December 13. If these angels don't earn their wings, at least they'll rack up some frequent-flyer miles.
