Balenciaga F/W 10.11 Paris

Wow im in love :heart::heart::heart:

The shapes in the jackets and those futuristic shoes!!!! Thank you Nicholas!

The pants opening up like a book to expose a mash of writing and newspaper graphics, Ahh this makes me want to be a woman, with money!

Oh my god.. those print tops that open out with the zip of the trousers are genius, and a jacket that matches the trousers? Incredible.
The colours are stunning. Fantastic pieces. I am in love.

From Cathy Horyn's Twitter:

At Balenciaga, Ghesquiere said highly textured clothes, which included quilted plastic surfaces and printed words, were meant to "ennoble everyday objects."

I have to say at first glance, this is a little too much for the eye. And whats strange is, for the first time, Ghesquiere's ideas are a little incoherrent, at least for me anyway. I see a lot of him in this, but very little Balenciaga. I was hoping he would return to the archives this season, like he does every Fall/Winter.

Besides, some of the colour combinations are pretty awful. And compared to last season, this looks very messy, no? I'm a little disappointed to be honest.

There are some pieces and shoes that I like, the entire collection not so much.

i love the slick pieces and the gray coat with fold in front. also the coloured cropped trousers i love!!! very fun and fresh:Ddefinitely a good collection:)

I'm still trying to digest this...

Meanwhile, from themoment's twitter:
Fab Balenciaga bricollage collection inspired by "packing materials" and the work of Irving Penn and Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster.

I wonder why Nicholas referenced 2001: A Space Odyssey? I'm so curious to hear the relevance. The colour palette is strangely similar, especially the pastels.

Even though there are some pieces that are clearly not keen on the eye I still have to applaud Nicholas designing such a innovate collection.

I'm not loving this as much as everyone else is and I don't even know why really.
I think some of the pieces look very nice, like the pieces with the papers, but I sure am not loving this.

Well. The paper/map stuff is SO cool, that's what I'm looking for when looking at Balenciaga! The connection between top and trousers - so intelligent! But otherwise...
The shoes are wildly unattractive, the colours not pretty, those 3/4-trousers are not my cup of tea, some of the padded shoulder-arm area pieces look totally unflattering and well, I guess this is not my favourite stuff.

its really ugly. Balenciaga under Nicolas hasn't been great for a while now imo.

Wow....it looks quite interesting. The technique looks impeccable and those shoes are so futuristic. I love how it's semi-industrial and semi-futuristic.

Some pieces remind me of Ghesquire's previous years, maybe 2001-2003? He's such a master when it comes to shapes.

Some typical cuts from Balenciaga :)

Extremely well done :) and some interesting pieces.

So far one of the best collections I have seen all season :D

First impressions =

Liking the continuation of last season's aesthetic but gone softer, squidgier and, in places, more 'granny', more buttoned up.

Loving the trompe l'oeil pieces. Many of them very cleverly done and something of a new departure.

The paper aeroplane made me think of Chalayan but wondering if it might get disproportionate attention and come to seem a bit gimmicky.

Would also want to see the video, or at least understand the running order, before making a further reading. The visual posts so far are a bit confusing as to what the running order was and not sure even if we've seen it all yet.

As expected it feels interesting and certainly worthy of a proper study.

:buzz: !!!!!
Let me say first of all this illuminated floor juxtaposed with the classical interior is the type of stuff I love !

To the collection, this is absolutely fantastic !!! I think Nicholas always wins, first off, because his choice in fabrics and textures is always very on-point to me . The way he combines them fascinates me all the time . I always have this want to touch a Balenciaga piece and look at all of the details because it's certainly there . Each piece is so strong so they make great separates and I think they can be worn with about anything . I also adore how he creates shapes that are striking ! Just amazing .

Ghesquière is genius .

You said it just perfectly. It's so amazing, I already know I'm going to be SO mad about during few next months

I need time to get used to the new soft colors, definitly not what I was expecting

I don't like it a lot. But that's my own fault. I tend to trust Nicolas Ghesquière's tastes much more than mine.

The shapes and the newspaper print throw me off, though I'm really interested in the textures and how they feel, especially the rather bulky pulls.
As each time I love the shoes and some single pieces stand out as utterly futuristic daywear that could be comfartable and relaxed at the same time as they look futuristic.
The colouring works a lot better for me than Spring, but once more I'm thrown off by the terrible shape of the pants.
I blame a lot of my initial discomfort with this collection on the styling which is usually superb at Balenciaga. No doubt that as soon as it will turn up in magazines I will like it better.

Plus the texturing seems to be some sort of absolutely brilliant idea to sell it. All I wanna do right now is feel that heavy jumper on Miranda. That'll definitely get some in the stores come Fall.
